New backbox

Hi all,

I will soon be in need of a new backbox as mine is completely rusty and falling apart.

I'm after a bit of advice. I want to replace the backbox with one that wont go rusty quickly and that will fill the gap in the bumper and look a lot nicer than the standard.

I'm not after a change for performance gains but a deeper sound would be ok. I dont want it to be loud, chavvy or annoying but a hint of "deep growl" if that makes sense.

First of all, how much would a standard back box cost me including fitting and how much would a nicer rust free one cost. Also, how much longer would the upgraded one last me before it needed replacing. I'm just trying to get an idea of value for money on an upgraded one.

Many thanks.

Re: New backbox

i had a powerflow system on my 147 with a 5x3 slash cut oval exit which filled the gap perfectly and looked mean too. sound wise i didnt want too loud so powerflow fitted the largest silencer that would fit and it was great IMO.
not the best clip in the world, lots of whistling due to being in a very narrow lane but gets the exhaust sound across i think

ps - you may have seen / heard it around nuneaton last year as i spent a lot of time there! the A444 is great fun

Re: New backbox

Hey, thanks for the reply. Have you got any details of where I can get the exhaust from or an idea of a price.

And yeah, the A444 is a great road. Have to use it every day to get to my girlfriends house as she lives just past Bosworth.

yep.. I second that. EB Spares...

Alternatively, check with Remus Exhausts (Austrian! i think).. i have one on my GTA and it sounds nice and has very good build quality.. dunno the price though, it was a tithe from the previous owner..
