Crazed Richbrook Aerial on 147?

Hey everyone,

Could I have some opinions on which 'beesting' would look best:
  • The Short Sabre in chrome
  • The standard anti theft in chrome

Please click on this link to see what they are -
Richbrook Anti-Theft Aerials including New Sabre aerial

(see attachments for the sabre on my alfa 147 at the moment).

I am not going over the top as my car looks great as it is. I am simply personalising it to make it look that bit better than a standard silver 147.

My other plans for the upcoming future are Lowering, tinting windows (not too dark), and a stainless oval backbox.

I'm sure you will agree these mods will only uplift, and build on the alfa's stunning design.

All comments are welcome as I am contemplating swapping the richbrook sabre for a standard richbrook anti theft.

Cheers Lads (and lasses)

Re: Richbrook Aerial on 147?

All the alloy aerials stop the radio receiving reception, I think I prefer to have no aerial at all and listen to the sweet sound of the engine!!!

imo anti theft means the thief will snap it off trying.

Leave it standard

Sorry, I prefer a black antenna.
And the stubby one doesn't look
quite right.

Re: Richbrook Aerial on 147?

What do you reckon of the standard one..suits the silver car?!

It doesnt affect the reception on my radio...in fact I would say it has actually improved it!

Re: Richbrook Aerial on 147?

Why are they anti theft? (Is it because they look so naff no one would want to steal it
)Apart from pulling your leg though Dangez, why are they anti theft, how do they stop a thief....?

They have an allen key gromit so you have to unscrew that before unscrewing the ariel.

Re: Richbrook Aerial on 147?

out of them lot i prefer the straight one. i had a small areal similar on my 147 that was a sorta goldy chrome colour which blended nicely with the azzuro nuvola paintwork... radio reception was ****e tho so it ended up in the bin!

Re: Richbrook Aerial on 147?

Yeah. All You do is glue the 'screw thread' into the alfa to which the new aerial screws on. Then a grub screw holds it firmly in place.

So basically a thief cant unscrew it unless he happens to be carrying the right sized allen key. haha.

Re: Richbrook Aerial on 147?

id go for the black version.

Thats what i've got and it looks sweet, cut down length and it has improved reception.

Re: Richbrook Aerial on 147?

I think it's the aluminium aerial on the black base that makes me think it looks poor cheap and nasty, like the car wasn't meant for it, along with the home-made appearance of the bigger Richbrook item.

If you want a neater aerial, maybe the thing from a S2000 would be suitable. The 350Z boys make this change (never bothered myself in the very short time I had it before I ditched it for the Alfa) because the Z original looks much like the Alfa one - not very neat. Don't know about the thread size any more but I'm sure any passing Z or S2000 owner would be prepared to let you try it on (!). Anyway, here's a pic of one fitted on a Z:

or something like one of these:

Like them little stubby aerials. I would think the radio reception would be appauling though.
