Remap vs PBox

I know this has been discussed before but I can't find a comparison. I know both increase power but I'm looking for how they do it. I had heard (don't know where) that the PBox just increases the rail preasure where as a remap addresses the entire induction system. I am looking to do something very soon and I would like some information so I can make a decision.

Also, is Red Dot still around? I have sent emails and called but got no answer.

Thanks.

Re: Remap vs PBox

red dot are still around yes.

i personally would recommend a remap, at least with that you know you are geting the best setup for your car. the pbox will only change things to a generic value. this has been proven to in some cases not work and in rare cases reduce performance.

thats my opinion anyway

Re: Remap vs PBox

Lots of happy customers here from the remaps. Myself included, don't know anything about PBoxes but use the search and it will probably chuck up something useful(ish).

Red Dot are still going and have plenty of happy customers running their maps here ... there's rumours of a discount for AO members as well! Have a word with Operation Alfa about that.

No Rumour, but you need to be a CLUB member to qualify for the 10% D/C.

Did you remind Augusto about that after his little slip up?

Re: Remap vs PBox

Thanks for the information. I think I will book time with Red Dot to get it done. It sounds like a remap and the dyno are the way to go.

I am a member.....now!

Welcome to the club... . You'll receive your member pack shortly. Remap and Dyno are definitely the way to go. You won't regret it for a second!

Say hi to Augusto for me.

Re: Remap vs PBox

Is it possible for the engine map to be reset ...... by accident or by the dealer therefore loosing your remap and costing you more money?

Re: Remap vs PBox

We sell the P-Box so I am going to be biased but I only sell what I believe to be the best product. I bought the equipment from Red Dot a number of years ago and did not get on with it, it now sits redundant on the shelf in the work shop.

My advise it to try the P-Box first, use it for a couple of days and get used to it. Then take it off and then take you car to be re-mapped, then you can do a back to back test. If you chose to go with the re-map send us the P-Box back and get your money back.

No one has sent one back yet.

We also offer a £50 discount on our P-Box to AO club members.

Re: Remap vs PBox

I went with the remap and could not be happier with the car. It is a huge difference. I would highly recommend it. The guys at the shop were great.

Coming back home to Brussels, I'm cruising down the M20 in the left lane at about 150kph. I look up in my mirror and there is a Maserati on my tail. I quickly pull over and he goes by. I get back in the left lane and hammer it. He is just cruising and I have my foot on the floor just to catch up. We are blasting down the M20 at almost 200kph. People are diving out of his way and I am trailing him. We cruise like this for about 10min before we have to slow for traffic. I tried to get a picture from my car but my phone picked that time to run out of batteries. I can still see the Maserati logo on the back of his car.
