Re: Nitros

Re puds question, is it affected by not having a progressive controller on your setup marko?

Re: Nitros

ok first one - the dip - nothing to do with the nitrous, i get it on the normal run also - its due to a certain amount of cam overlap at that point where my cams are switching from about 230deg to about 290deg... this will be sorted with some pulleys eventually. i guess its just more evident with the nitrous on. so, nothing to do with lack of controller

why it drops off at higher revs - my bottle was almost empty and pressure was quite low. this is going to be addressed with a heater and a refill

thirdly - torque curves, yeah here you go. notice the same cam overlap exists tho

dip or no dip, and eith it dropping at higher rpm, it feels fantastic!

Re: Nitros

So with a full bottle the torque curve should be just shifted upwards by say 50lbft or so then? If so, that is bloody good!

Re: Nitros

something like that puds yeah, obviously it will vary slightly but that as a guideline yeah. ill be ordering a bottle heater this week so i can hold the higer torque and bhp figures even on low bottle

Chilling Re: Nitros

Marko, I notice you can get a gauge for the pressure of the bottle, is this in the car or on the bottle?

Made up my mind to get mine done, just juggling when and exactly what i want...

When you change from 25bhp to 50bhp etc, do you have to go back to the fitter, does it cost again?

Re: Nitros

going from 25 to 50 with the wizards costs you £12 - thats for the larger jets. its a 5 minute job to fit them and to be honest fitting the kit itself is only a 3 hour job DIY.

i dont have a pressure gauge fitted at present but when i do it will be in the car.

go with the wizards kit, its guaranteed for life and has yet to fail on any cars. you will start with a 25hp shot, set this up perfectly and then fit some cooler spark plugs and go to the 50hp shot. i wouldnt recommend any higher without a controller. also at 50hp you will need to run higher octane fuel. i run the 97ron and its perfect. at 50hp the increase in torque and acceleration is very very impressive. if you have the money available i would recommend you also fit a bottle heater, there about £175 but will make sure the pressures are maintained so you dont get a drop off like in my example! with the heater its predicted (by trev, the wizard himself) that i should get close to 220bhp and 220 torque. that is a LOT for such a little engine

you could also join the wizard forums and ask, trev visits them daily and is the most helpful company director i have ever came across!

You can wave goodbye to your warranty then!

Re: Nitros

exactly! in theory a correctly setup nitrous install wont cause any damage to the engine unless you get greedy and whack too much in too soon.

Re: Nitros

Marko - what delivers the extra fuel necessary when the nitrous is injected?

Re: Nitros

pud - the nitrous kit comes with a second solenoid that you link into the fuel rail and this delivers the extra fuel in with the nitrous in such a way that they are mixed into a vapor before reaching the engine.

i just ran out of nitrous this morning, 3 weeks it lasted on the 50hp shots!

best ring my mate for a refill!

Re: Nitros

no problem mate. if you want to know the inns and outs have a look over at Nitrous kits for cars and bikes - Wizards of NOS under the technical section, plenty of FAQs in there and if you dig deep enough i think there is a few online manuals too.

just FYI, off nitrous i run an A/F ratio of about 12.5:1, on nitrous this is closer to 10:1 but with the added fuel that enters with the nitrous to balance it out nicely.

Re: Nitros

My god - I have no need for the car to be any quicker day to day, but those times when your foot's buried in the carpet I feel it could do with extra go - How much is one of these kits fitted, and as I'm in Cornwall who'd be up for fitting it?

Looks fantastic, and would definitely achieve what I want without the expense of supercharging the 3.0 V6..
