Can corner with less feeling of pushing past the cars limits and less dive on breaking, its a good improvement to handling and looks.

Re: 159 Lowering?

Will using Eibach springs work with a 2.2 on 17inch alloys? Do I need just the springs or also the damper?

Just springs

Works a treat for me

Even the Alfa technician guy last week said how much better it handles

Re: 159 Lowering?

Cant comment other than my personal experience with the tracking - it was way way way off! Shockingly so in fact!

Post lowering I had it 4 wheel aligned and thus far the front tyres have lasted an amazing (compared to before!) 18k miles!

Just one more Q!

Is it:
Eibach Pro-Kit
http://www.potn.co.uk/p1332623.htm

OR

Eibach Sportline
http://www.potn.co.uk/p1331606.htm

The difference isnt quite clear to me....apart from the fact that the sportline lowers by more ....

Re: 159 Lowering?

I have the pro-kit

Make sure whoever fits them knows what they're doing I was suprised how awkward the rear springs were to remove.

Go for dampers as well, check out supercutes posting in this thread, excerpt of which:

Lowering the chassis by changing the springs
This is the cheapest way to lower your Alfa, you do this at the cost of top speed handling. Here we note the following; lower looks better but it is at the cost of handling, the lower you go the worse the car will handle, even if you use those "harder" springs, the geometry is just not made for this type of punishment, it will get its revenge on you sooner or later. Facit: This method is only for those who drive in the city or cruise at around 80 mph in the countryside.

Re: 159 Lowering?

235/40 tires, jonnyboy?
I wonder if wider tires (say 245) would require spacers after lowering.
oh, and how much lower is your can now?

Yes 235/40, same as the standard TI whit 19 inch.
I think 245 will be a little to wide, and 45 will be to high, 35 will work, but harder, I was also considering some other tires sizes, since the 235/40-19 cost a lot more than other sizes.
the picture is taken just after the lowering, and it is a little bit lower now, maybe down around 0.5 to 1cm, and whit spacers, the wheel will come to much out

Re: 159 Lowering?

thanks.
255/35 r19 is actually very close to the standard 225/50 r17 wheels on which the speedo is calibrated anyway but, at least my 19" ti rims, are too narrow for 255

wy don't you go for 235/35? 255 would only get the full consumpiton up, and make the car slower, I would belive.

Re: 159 Lowering?

235/35 would be too low and prolly any pothole will damage it or the rim

245 and 255 will make it marginally slower but it'll improve grip consumption is not an issue yet
