Re: 145 tuning etc..........

The "best" exhaust system is the one that your car was designed to use, i.e. the standard kit. If you want longevity, get a stainless steel replica. If you want aftermarket noise look elsewhere.

No idea about aftermarket kits, sorry.

Re: 145 tuning etc..........

I dont think you get many uprated systems for 145/146s, but a custom built stainless isn't too expensive.

If you want to look though, there is CSC, supersprint, sebring, jetex or Ragazzon......who do make them as far as I know.

Zender Kit......not sure if they are available these days.

Your best bet is to find a local exhaust specialist who makes stainless kits, they'll replicate your original.

I fitted a Powerflow stainless to my 155 and it wasn't much more expensive than a standard replacement from alfa. Im sure they do them for the 145 as well. They have dealerships all over the country so you should be able to find one near you.

I had mine made with an extra back box which keeps the noise down. It sounds nice but not too boy racer

Re: 145 tuning etc..........

I've got a Ragazzon cat back with no silencers and I sounds like an Alfa should and feels like its pulling stronger at 5000rpm upwards.

Although, I'm planning on ditching it for a custom made setup as my current one blows quite a bit

Re: 145 tuning etc..........

I've got a Ragazzon too, top notch bit of kit. Loads lighter than the origional, sounds great and its stainless.
Zender kits are no longer available new.

Lmao, ehhh nah If that was the case every race car in the world would be running a standard exhuast system

Generally standard exhausts are very restrictive. Alfa ones are very good but you can always do better The supersprint and CSC seem to be the best.

Re: 145 tuning etc..........

Where can you order Ragazzon from? Judging by the state of my backbox ill need an upgrade soon. I like the sound of the Ragazzon but they do seem a tad pricey!

Duncan - How is yours on the motorway? No silencers, bet that ROARS!!!

I agree in part.... yes there are less restrictive exhaust systems out there but not much advantage under 5k rpm. If you get up to 5 or 6k rpm on a regular basis and dont mind the noise then there are gains.

Racing cars is a different story - if you were to replace your cams with racing cams and have a remap then you may start to be restricted by the gas flow, in and out. But then again, this is only if you can burn enough air/fuel quick enough, which is unlikely with the stock pressure regulator and injectors.

I know, but anything that is designed to work with your engine and let it breath a bit better can't be bad. I know every engine is different and I do love the sound of my car I want a nice rumble from mine nothing loud or crazy just a bit deeper The car does have a fair few silencers in the system so freeing up a few would be good

And I will be doing head work and cams when I change my engine so it will be benefical And my car regularly sees 7k

Re: 145 tuning etc..........

Powerflow for the exhaust on mine, and cheaper than original, best thing though is you tell the guy how loud/quiet you want it and they make it to spec then and there!

ps. just found a zender kit for mine yay...only took me a year to find one

Damien if you start removing any of the back boxes you may gain a few BHP, but you will lose all your torque due to the reduced back pressure. Low down pull and acceleration will be noticeably less. IMO the best exhaust mod for the TS is a straight through cat retaining the back boxes to keep the back pressure up. Just my 2c

True certain back pressure is good but the when and if my car gets a TS 2 litre engine it will have a supersprint exhaust on it. I doubt you will loose all the torque the curve will move though.

Re: 145 tuning etc..........

My Cloverleaf has a de-cat and the straight through Ragazzon, didn't notice any loss of torque
As far as I'm aware the only UK distributer is Gazzella racing, be warned though their service isn't great. If you'll be needing it within a couple of months I'd get it ordered now.

No!

Racing cars have racing engines and commensurately exhausts are designed to suit the higher state of tune.

The standard exhaust is designed to go with the engine's "standard" state of tune and altering to a big-bore etc etc will make very little difference (if any at all) to performance. Ditto for induction kits.

True, but put and induction kit and a free flow exhaust together and you will get BHP increase. Tested on rolling road and have seen results myself

Re: 145 tuning etc..........

I don't understand why anyone would replace their existing system with another standard one. The genuine ones cost a fortune and weighs a ton, the replica ones I've seen look awfull and aren't very good quality. The Supersprint and Ragazzon systems weigh about half as much as the OE, look great, sound great and the Ragazzon is stainless, so should last forever.
No brainer in my book.
