ECU Remap, car almost done
OK it has been some time. Finally got the Autodelta remap. Now she cooks all through the range.
I have noticed that on some days she is on fire and others is normal. How odd !! Maybe it is just psychological, but sometimes she burns and others it is like driving normally. Ho hum.
So that is the exhaust system, braking system, induction system, suspension, ecu... What else???? Any suggestions. CAMS are WAYYYYY to expensive as is the autodelta supercharger.

Does this change have anything to do with humidity or altitude? Remapped engines sometimes are more prone to performance degradation from thinner or more humid air than stock ones.

Re: ECU Remap, car almost done
Mine seems to be a bit like that as well. Performance is especially poor after a long drive on the motorway. I even stalled it the other day while reverse parking after doing 50 miles on the motorway.. But if I go out an hour later and drive it again, it will be on fire!

Re: ECU Remap, car almost done
snap !!!!!!!!! sOMETIMES SHE IS IMPOSSIBLE TO STALL BUT AFTER A VERY LONG RUN, POP HER IN REVERSE AND YOU HAVE TO HIT THE REVS HARD NOT TO STALL. SOMETIMES NOTICE THAT 3RD IS LIKE ARRRRHHHHHHHHHHH WHOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOO AND SOMETIMES IT ACTS LIKE 5TH OR SOMETHING, ESPECIALLY AFTER A LONG DRIVE.
Anyone know whats going on?

Aren't the remaps a bit sensitive to cheap fuel?

It looks like throttle response. Try to clean your TB may improve.
Or is possible that the maps of the throttle are not matching exactly your hardware. If the problem after cleaning the throttle persist try to speak with the guy made the program.
Another possibility if this happening most on low revs could be a bad injector. A measurement of your injectors will show.

Re: ECU Remap, car almost done
Maybe I'm talking out of my poop shoot here as I'm not up on this tuning scene but, as we all know, add a turbo to a naturally aspirated diesel and the power n performace is greatly increased. Now without doing anything else, add an intercooler to the outfit n boy oh boy does it blow it out of the water. The cooler keeps the air slightly moist and at a constant temp which improves performance and keeps it the same in all conditions. Ever noticed, your car performs better on a damp or rainy day than on a hot dry day ? Well, adding an intercooler gives you your personal damp day all the time no matter where you go!!!!

Big thanks to the Ned & Sam at AutoLusso - they diagnosed a slight (tiny) blow from the rear bank exhaust manifold. Sam noticed it after his eyes started stinging after he held his head down the back of the engine for a while..
This is obviously messing up the lambda reading, which is causing the engine to adjust the fuel map, and the less-than-ideal burn is why it feels a bit less responsive when over 70 degrees and not at more than 2/3rds throttle - this is when the engine takes the lambda reading into consideration when adjusting the fuelling. Maneouvring after a motorway journey is the time when the problem shows up most on mine as it meets the criteria. If I drive it an hour later, when it has cooled to under 70, the lambda is ignored and it drives fine, crisp reponse.
Maybe you have the same problem, I'll get a quote for sorting this out and decide if it is worth doing. It passed its last MOT in this state so its obviously not bad enough to affect emissions.

Back on the road: Alfa 156 3.0 24v V6, Silver with red leather, Q2 diff, 17" GTA Teledials, headlights & inlet manifold, AutoDelta carbon intake,
SuperSprint exhaust, Dastek Unichip & FK coilovers - my 245bhp beast!
Gone but not forgotten: Alfa 156 2.4 JTD Veloce, Vela Blu, Angel 'mad map' & BMC CDA, Ferodo DS2500s - the fastest tractor in town!

Reason: AutoLusso - not AutoDelta! :o

Re: ECU Remap, car almost done
Cheers.
Blasted down to Cornwall at the Weekend. No compaints AT ALL. Sweet driving. Put her in second and take your foot off the pedals and she will happily trot along at 20. After serious scientific thought I have decided it is a ghost in the engine.
Everything else is good. Indeed in Exeter I blasted an A4 from a standstill. We played.... SAFELY... cat and mouse all the way to North London. The A8 couldnt keep up. 3.7 gazillion litre engine and the size of a tank! Great fun. Couldnt tough me for acceleration or top speeds. Nice drive.
