KW V2 settings for 147 GTA????
Hi, i am currently at pabloss's paint shop fitting me new KW Variant 2's, and was wondering if anyone knew any decent settings for the height and damping to give us a guide to work off. I read last week threads and posts outlining possible settings and have searched for them in the last half an hour but to no avail. Anyone got any ideas??? My cars in bits outside. Cheers very much.

I guess your gear box is back in with Q2, how are you finding it?
Sorry no idea about the KW kit though.

Re: KW V2 settings for 147 GTA????
For height I'd say get it looking like there is an equal space all around the wheel and arches, let it settle down for a few miles, then see how low you can go until speed humps and whatnot are an issue. When adjusting height I measure off the thread on the damper and make it equal on the opposite side. For damping, stiff as possible until comfort is compromised, play about, should find a good everyday setting in no time.

Re: KW V2 settings for 147 GTA????
Cheers Caldo. The damping rates are set to roughly half way on all 4 corners as a basis to fiddle about. And im not sure wot the height was set to but we were measuring 60-65mm from the base of the threads. It looks pleasingly low to my eyes. I have taken a picture but have lost me memory card so i cant put the piccie on here just yet. I reckon at the mo it needs to be raised at the back maybe 5 or 10mm but i'll just have a play about tomorrow. What i do know is they feel amazing so far. Even though theres loads less travel than before (std), it rides far more suppley than i was expecting it to (maybe this is because i havnt fitted the 19's yet). As I said I just need to have a fiddle with them over the course of the next few days.
I was thinking bout stiffening the rears up a little and the aforementioned raise of around 5-10mm to start things off.
We'll see how it pans out tho.
Oh yeah, i know it needs raising a little at the rear cos my headlight beam is too high, even when its on its lowest setting.
Anyway, i'll post my findings tomorrow and hopefully be able to post some pics up with the 19's fitted. Cheers. Inabit.

Heres a picture of it with its temporary settings. I reckon it looks a touch too low at the back and filthy. Nicely low though.

I reckon it looks good like that.. Maybe give it 5-10mm up at the back and it'll be sorted. How does it go over speedbumps now?

Re: KW V2 settings for 147 GTA????
What Pud said
My rear was a touch lower than front to begin with, had a slight rodeo feel over bumps, something to look out for.
Can see speed cushions being hit and miss so to speak as it is, you know those that ride up the centre just to catch lowered cars out

Re: KW V2 settings for 147 GTA????
Cheers swanny, will do. I aint got time to fiddle about tonight, i'm off back out to work, i'll have a fiddle tomorrow. What i have noticed is less front end grip with the present (temp) settings. I'm gonna try raising at the rear bout 5mm and also firming up the rear shocks a touch. we'll see.

Re: KW V2 settings for 147 GTA????
I had KW V2 for one year almost.
Agree about 5mm higher on rear and half turn stiffer on rear.
Enjoy !!!

seems to go over them fine. it'll catch if u go over then not very wide ones where u can put both wheels at either side, but only catching the guard slightly. i should be putting the 19's on later. wahey!!!

I have found this guide to setting up coilovers handy
http://www.thorneymotorsport.co.uk/c...nsionsetup.pdf
Of course, you can't beat a proper cornerweighting set-up.
I assume you've had your allignment set up since fitting?

Re: KW V2 settings for 147 GTA????
Oh yeah, as i said in an earlier post on this topic, ive noticed less front end grip, on turn in and accelerating out of corner on the power.
I looked at a front wheel just then and noticed a bit of negative camber which aint on the standard set up (or its minimal), so obviously this has something to do with less front end grip. This was the problem on my last car (Pud's) when i foooked about with the suspension.
So am i correct in thinking that the lower you go with 147/156/GT's, the more negative camber you are likely to get?
And does negative camber on the front have to mean less grip?
Is there no way around this with these Alfas or what??
Cheers.

I think you set ride-height, bound and rebound first then get the geometry re-aligned. That re-adjusts the camber/castor toe-in/toe-out settings based on the new rideheight.

Is this possible with the 147/156/GT then or what?

Just asked Justin for a bit of advice there and he says that the toe is adjustable and thats about it, not the castor. He said that an upper adjustable strut brace would be an option to even things out a bit. Definately next on my list now. I think its a bit of a flaw with 147/156/GT suspensions that you cant lower them without effectively giving yourself less grip. I really do hope im wrong here. Cheers.

Re: KW V2 settings for 147 GTA????
I'm sure there must be a way of doing it. Wouldn't a lower brace (rather than an upper) pull your suspension columns in together, effectively preventing the negative camber ge | |
