159 1.9&2.4 remap results?

Hi everybody, I'm very fresh to this community, wanted to launch my first question here. Did some search on this and it seems remap hasn't been discussed so much recently.

For some 2 years now I've been a happy user of my Alfa 156SW 1.9 remapped to 165bhp and I look forward to having a successor 159 2.4 Q4 guess.. with a remap as well.

Please post your results achieved on Alfa 156&159, both measured and subjectively perceived are welcome.

In my case it was a remap of ECU through OBD connector here in Belgium at Autotuneheinz. Some 136/320 (bhp/Nm) before and 165/380 after. Performance gain after was immediately and undoubtedly felt. No data on acceleration other than my subjective feelings that it was surely worth it. Top speed increased from 208km/h to 218km/h (GPS measured, highway in Germany) Top speed was verified like that a few times more.

Now thinking what 159 2.4 210bhp could do after a gentle remap..

156SW 1.9JTDm + remap 165bhp

Thinking of... 159SW 2.4JTDm Q4, 18" spoke rims, black + black upholstery + remap 210->250bhp

I'd be careful of getting a 159 remapped - it may screw up the DPF settings.

Re: 159 1.9&2.4 remap results?

159 1.9JTDm 150bhp remapped to about 190bhp...goes like 2.4JTDm 200bhp standard in "in gear" acceleration...the 1.9 is faster off the line due to almost 100kg difference.

The 2.4JTDm which I have is now remapped to about 240bhp and it is a real monster in 3,4,5,6th gear...way faster then before.

Didn't yet have the chance to test the top speed, but if you are not careful enough it goes very easy to 220km/h.

Standard 2.4 200bhp does 240km/h on the speedo...so I am thinking that 250km/h with the remap should be possible.

Anyone with a "one step further" experience, by this I mean air filter, exhaust, clutch etc modification on top of the ecu remap?

Diesel Particulate Filter. It's a device in the exhaust stream that removes smoke particles and then burns them off. It can clog up and cause the car to go into limp mode - in other words it will get you to a garage, very slowly.

I guess the only issue Ive NEVER had was the DPF, but then I'm known not to be a 'gentle' driver

Re: 159 1.9&2.4 remap results?

I am thinking of getting my 1.9JTDm done and am a little concerned about the DPF issue. Am I to understand that all you have to do to keep the DPF clean is to put your foot into it every once in a while? I don't understand the issue with that!

Autotuneheinz is closer but I want the job done right. What would you guys recommend?

Red Dot in Watford for a remap.. But AutoLusso make some pretty bold claims about their Steinbauer P-Box and I wouldn't be too quick to dismiss it. They do offer a money back guarantee if you aren't satisfied as well. :hmm:

Re: 159 1.9&2.4 remap results?

Is the DPF only in the 159's or in all of the multijets?!

Cheers,

Mark

DPF has only been fitted to JTD engines in current models, the 159, Brera and Spider. Its not fitted to GT and 147, and was never fitted to the 156.
