Have you PIMPED your GTV??

I just wanted to ask all GTV owners if they have upgraded or modified their GTV in any way. Be it cosmetic or whatever?

Thinking of spending a few bob just to make it cooler looking or even better performing.

Re: Have you PIMPED your GTV??

nope.....and have no intention of doing so either.....

In the past i have created some really nice modded cars, a lot of them have had some serious money spent on them.

The GTV is different, it is so damn pretty i will not spoil that, so instead i am going to make sure it is very very clean and well looked after.

So this winter she is off the road and the underside will be painted, the rear suspension will be stripped and powdercoated, the alloy in the engine bay will be polished and laquered and some detailing work done.

The only thing i may do (if i can find a nice one) is replace the interior with a black MOMO leather interior

Re: Have you PIMPED your GTV??

I have a wish list... it's possible I will never get the time or money to do it all though..

1) Fit induction Kit / uprate air filter
2) Uprate suspension system, e.g fit Konig shocks, Bilstein springs etc..
3) Uprate braking system - e.g change fluids & fit uprated discs
4) Fit 17" siena alloy wheels.
5) Refurbish seats or fit new ones, like black momo leather.
6) Possibly get some detailing done...

Re: Have you PIMPED your GTV??

The word "pimped" just makes me think of that cheap nasty chrome and carbon fibre crap that people buy off eBay........ My car had loads of the stuff when I bought her. I have improved the looks of my car by removing all of the fake carbon fibre, binning the aluminium locking pins and ripping out the painted console. The GTV can be made into a real stunner with carefully chosen mods. The shiny bling should be banned though!

Re: Have you PIMPED your GTV??

i would love to put some 18" wheels on mine just to fill the arches more. maybe get it lowered also to accomplish this. i love the 4 exit exhaust that is availabe and there is a cool body kit that wraps itself nicely around said ehaust. i have seen some hideous bonnet mods on ebay which look horreendous. the worst i think was someone cut out the round holes for the headlights and made them into square ones....eeeeek why ruin one of the best bits??. i have modded cars in the past but i chose this car because it is stunning from the out set so i wouldnt have to make it look better. all i have changed so far is some alloy pedals and gear knob and stereo upgrade oh and lots and lots of polishing.

Re: Have you PIMPED your GTV??

1)alloy valve caps ( x3 since some bu**er nicked one)
2)CD player.

That's it. pininfarina did a pretty good job I reckon and I'd be pretty surprised if I could improve much on it.

Wouldn't mind some better speakers though and if it wasn't for the insurance I'd probably stick on a tasteful but sonorous exhaust and maybe a little suspension work. In the end I'd rather spend my money keeping it in tip top standard form than on mods.

Bingo.

I think most GTV drivers would agree with you on that.

Re: Have you PIMPED your GTV??

I wouldn't Mod mine in any way. I love her just the way she is! If you tell a women that they will love you, I am hoping I get the same from my GTV. (I love you just the way you are babe, I hope you start first time on Saturday. I have been away for 2 and a half months!!!!! )

Re: Have you PIMPED your GTV??

Very subtle mods are OK, anything else detracts from what is a fantastic looking looking car in my opinion.

One of the best looking modded (and in general just simply 'best looking') has to be this one: front-3-quater-view rear-view

Alas it's now in GTV heaven

As for exhausts, I was shocked to discovered how much a modified exhaust was going to add to my insurance policy: £14! And I think come renewal time when you barter the modified exhaust get's thrown in for free.

Re: Have you PIMPED your GTV??

I wouldn't describe mine as pimped, but I've had these done:

Eibach pro-kit springs
Powerflex rear bushes
Quad exit ss exhaust

+ it came with the Aeropack so looks slightly pimped anyhow.

would like to fit this front splitter: body-kit.co.uk Alfa Romeo GTV JMS Body Kits ,and maybe 18s but happy with how it is.

I've seen that before, he's got the Autodelta J10 kit, I think, which looks very nice.

There's also a guy on Sports Alfa who did a lot of subtle work to his Black GTV, I'll try and find the link. He had tobacco coloured seats, and debadged it at the back. Looked very smart.

Unfortunately I could only find one picture, below, but there's a whole set out there on the interweb, and it looks fantastic.

The guy is called Thom, and he's in switzerland.

I've fitted a Larini exhaust and a K&N filter, but that's all to date.

Re: Have you PIMPED your GTV??

Mine izz pimp'd 2 da max, innit.

I have fitted the Autodelta J10 kit - front Evo spoiler, sideskirts, upper and lower apron (though no rear wing). I have Autodelta quad exhausts, slightly tinted windows, lowered 30mm and have removed the number plate surround. Lights are HID for dipped and PIAA for others at front. Inside I have red Momo leather, Autodelta alloy gear knob, and alloy handbrake lever.

That's as "pimped" as I will be going.

You can't go wrong with clear side indicators. They're a cheap and tasteful upgrade imo.

Re: Have you PIMPED your GTV??

Mine Be pimped too:

Externally:

Autodelta J10 Front Splitter, Clear Side Repeaters, Newer Style Pininfarina badging, weeny offset front number plate, HID Headlights on dipped beam, factory Aerokit already on the car, (Spoiler and 17's)

Internally:

Momo replacement Handbrake and Gearknob, Richbrook starter button, Parking Sensors with a visual indicator, Alpine 9855R with an ipod hidden in what was the ashtray,

Engine wise:

Autodelta Carbon Fibre intake and cotton filter, Stainless steel sports exhaust, Powerflex bushes, Gorgeous Pirelli P Zero Asimmetricos all round,

Randoms:

Viper 480XV Cat 1 Alarm with extras - Proxy sensors to scare off would be car park denters, remote boot release on the fob to make loading shopping easier (yawn)

That's it, the only bits I'd still love to sort out would be:

Q2 differential, Autodelta Side Skirts (J10) to match the front splitter, Decent brakes, and a cracking audio system to go with the decent CD player (sub, amps and plenty of sound deadening, )

"molto costoso ed emozionante"

If the haynes museum find any nuts attached to a fence, Hammy'd like em back..

Re: Have you PIMPED your GTV??

Well, suspension (Koni or Bilstein shocks) or brake upgrades (Ferrodo blocks, Brembo discs) are worthwhile upgrades to make your GTV drive and stop so much better.

All cosmetic work is almost useless because Pininfarina did such a good job! Only exception maybe nice 17 or 18" wheels, they look much better than the standard 16" ones.

Re: Have you PIMPED your GTV??

Larini sports exhaust, EBC vented front discs and red stuff pads all round, goodridge braided brake lines, sparco strutbrace and a decent head unit and speakers.
