Re: 3.8L GTA.... No problem for these guys

I'm only being polite, no harm mean't at all.
I decided to go the ITB route after reaching the limits of the drive-by-wire system combined with very high lift cams etc.Suffered a minor set back earlier on in the year.
If you don't wish me to post anything, then so be it.

No need for me to get into politics or arguments, it's definitely not my loss.
The car is planned to be featured in the September or October issue of Speed & Sound Magazine & can be seen on their website around that time.
Rushs' monster should be in next months issue. For us Alfisti in SA it's great to see hot Alfas in the magz which are usually overflowing with Beemers,Golfs.EVO's & the like.

Everone on this forum has something to discuss about their cars or is interested in what some other member did to theirs! That's what it's about or supossed to be, not so?
I'm not about to provide a weather report on SA or talk about the pending US elections am I now?

However, I'm NOT willing to get into arguments & general unpleasantries with arrogant....................NO WAY!!!That I don't need.
You support your so called friend who left theforum but little do you know what kind of person he was, what he tried to do? Not to me, NO, to a promenent tuner on your side of the world.Disgusting it was!!!!!!!!!

As for Glenwood Motors, they do good work for Alfa & keep those that wish to make their Alfa's faster in SA happy.

There is Autodelta whom I consider to be a SUPER class act, as well ass the likes of Madeno Racing & Novitec to name but a few.I've bought some bits from Madeno Racing of late & their bits were excellent (rear brace, club sport roll cage........)

I'm just an Alfa Romeo fan, that's all. All I was doing was sharing my Alfa experience, as others do with their cars on the forum, that's all.
Ciao,

Re: 3.8L GTA.... No problem for these guys

My last comment, final.
Fitting the ITB's to a FWD V6 does pose it's problems.Due to the transverse engine mounting you have one bank of ITB's that require a "PULL" type action to operate & another that requires a "PUSH" type action.
It was a real nightmare getting the linkage sorted.

I'm not ALLOWED to post any photos, so until then, I keep my TRAP SHUT!!!!!!!
Pedal box BTW as for Rushs' car had to be made up,custom.

Seen... wouldn't of expected to see them on a Glenwood Motors motor, very tasty nonetheless.

Re: 3.8L GTA.... No problem for these guys

Thank you.
This photo was taken 2 weeks ago. Cams fitted, engine fitted as well as MOTEC M600 with special interlinking harness to interface MOTEC with the cars ECU's.
Car was mapped on a hub dyno (DOC's-Kempton Park,Johannesburg).MOTEC requirement to limit slippage etc.
Now Dawie will use the car for 2-3 weeks, approximately 400km's of testing. Then it's ready.
Will post some pics as we move along.
Kind Regards,
MONSTRO

Yes, can see why an ecu would be needed, though I am surprised by Dawie using Adie's kit...

The thing is, whats the point fabricating or indeed designing your own, if someone else has adequate kit for what you want, buy it

Allthough i don't know the extent of the arguements etc, i AM however interested in whats going on here...
Iam interested in Alfas, particularly tuning them, hence i come on here...

Now do i get to see some Alfa porn

BTW, this past week, ive been talking to Dawie he's been in the "game" for a very long time, he knows his stuff and is a very nice guy.... hats off to him, his latest 3.4 24v twin turbo, ran 710bhp (530kw), 880nm of torque at the wheels (1.1 bar)

Dawie only uses the intake manifold from AHM........after all AHM got someone to make it up for them. The ITB's are Jenvey, the trumpets and fuel rails are local (Dave Ingle).
Here is a piccie of our 156 3.8 engine.
BTW all the wiring in the engine bay has been tidied up.

Spence, read the thread, stems from a comment GTAFan made (bearing in mind he is Monstro's friend and also someone who owns an engine Dawie built) just somewhat ironic that the opposite appears to be the case.

Why is this section of the forum not IMG enabled

Absolute stunners, both 156 & GTV inside the engine bay and out! All I really want to know is when can we expect the Rush vs Monstro vid?

I've heard a lot about Monstro, but never personally spoke to him.
I'm down here in CT and he's out in JHB........it's about a 1600km distance. I don't like to see Alfa vs Alfa. We've purposefully built the 156 to compete against the likes of BMW's V8 M3, Audi RS4, Mercedes CLK55, C63 and E55's.

Re: 3.8L GTA.... No problem for these guys

I know Rush from friendly phone calls.I was in Cape Town with the GTA in early June 2007, had the car on a dyno that Rush uses down there, KSD(Koos Swanepoel Developments).
I'm involved in a business in Johannesburg but home is actually Port Elizabeth. So it's 1600km or 700km away in the case of PE.
It's not uncommon in SA for any number of people to work or have business' in Johannesburg & fly down to PE or CT on a Friday afternoon.Been doing it since early Feb & I see the same regulars on the Friday afternoon & Sunday night flights.
It's 1.5hrs, so it's close!!!!

I will trailer the GTA back down to PE in late September, there is a descent track day coming up with the local Alfa Club usually scheduled for sometime in October. Then there is a descent event taking place in Cape Town at the end of the year that I wish to enter.
As for me racing Rush, I agree with him..........we built our cars purely to challenge the M,AMG,RS brigade.................
Comparing the cars & knowing the spec of them both quite well. Rush's car is a straightline MONSTER of note, mine is more set-up to go around the track, hence the major effort into major suspension modifications etc on my car.
Here's what I have done suspension wise:

-Autodelta Sport Corse coil overs with very stiff race springs (Jano's choice & set-up) heigh/rebound/dampening adjustment
-Autodelta uprated control arms
-Eibach roll bars front & rear
-Omp upper & lower front braces
-Madeno Racing rear brace
-Madeno Racing Club Sport cage
-Orque Racing adjustable rear control arms
-XYZ front & rear 6-Piston Calipers with 355mm discs (whoever pointed out they were 6Piston was right, the kit arrived last Friday.Measurements taken by local agents DOCS & kit then ordered from XYZ, took 3 weeks to make up, so I was WRONG as I was under the impression that they were 8Piston, my apologies)

Rush, we have been challenged by someone with a V8 M3 to race down in CT in December although I will face him up in JNB in early September.
Should I post the VID??????
Some chaps don't seem to agree with our form of street racing & take offence???
Don't want to cause any problems??????

Ciao,
Monstro

I know also that Autodelta and Glenwood have strong relationship and use some common technical solutions.
Also Glenwood is producing a lot of parts for AHM for big bore engines and multi throttle engines.

You've spoken a lot to my younger brother........he's the one with the 3.7 GTV. I'm sure you're referring to the guy from the Cartoday forum.
He's more than welcome to take on the 156. We can get Jakes to do the video and post it on here .
I'm the type of guy who believes in 'actions speak louder than words' .

Post it!
If they don't like it they would have complained about the Gtv vs M3 vids.

Monstro, didn't you have a 156 GTA and now that's changed in your sig to a 3.2 GT sans mods, what plans you got for that?
