GTV Induction Kit Fitted

Managed to fit the induction kit that I have had hanging around for the last few weeks.

Dont expect any gains from it, hopefully sound nicer, but it has got to be better than that horrible airbox, I couldnt believe how restrictive it was.

Lots of room under the bonnet now as well.

Excuse the state of the engine, next job when the weather improves is to sort that out.

I too would imagine this setup being quite loud and having a pleasent induction roar!

Hey Evo Arther, just out of interest, what condition is your original Airbox in? And I dont suppose you'd want to sell it? Send me a PM if you do!

Re: GTV Induction Kit Fitted

Well just been out in the car, not really ideal conditions to give it lots of beans but the filter is pretty quiet, not much louder than the standard airbox set up.

I was also a little concerned about water getting in, although it is quite high, checked it when I got back and it is not wet at all.

Sorry mate keeping the airbox in case I need to put it back to standar when I sell it.

when I removed the intake pipe (the pipe that draws in cold air from behind the headlight) from my standard 156 V6 airfilter box my car sounded like a V8

Would have imagined the 3.0 V6 would have been even deeper especially with an open filter.

Anyway take care with standing water - do you have an undertray or its completely open?

Re: GTV Induction Kit Fitted

It is completely open at the moment, will see how it goes and may fit a modified one later.

Not heavy stainless but ultra light alloy hence the samco joiners otherwise would have done the whole pipe in one piece.

Got it from a local fabricator.

Re: GTV Induction Kit Fitted

I have a pipercross filter in my 2.0 gtv, mine doesnt go down as low as yours, about the same height as the top of the old air filter box. I removed mine because during our floods i sucked lots of water in to the engine up through the low air intake. so if anything you will have less problems with water, the filters are usually oiled so they do not take in water, easily. If you ever clean it, dunk it straight in to some water and you will be surprised how slow it is to take water in. if covered in water, obviously re-oil afterwards.

Re: GTV Induction Kit Fitted

I have a CDA in my GTV 3.0. The intake sucks in from the air flow at the very bottom of the grille and I have driven in all types of weather. I am careful with standing water, but have had no problems at all.

Re: GTV Induction Kit Fitted

Driven it a few times and had no problems with water, I dont drive through standing water anyway and it is above alot of the electrics so if the water did get that high I think water in the filter would be the least of my worries.

It is a stainlees filter so no oil involved.

Re: GTV Induction Kit Fitted

yes but for the Evo Arthur's alfa the water seems to be a big problem. Sometimes you can't avoid driving through water and it can be dangerous.
