OA - I wouldn't bother if the engine/air filter/exhaust are standard.

It's pretty good as it is.

I don't doubt that for a second.

Re: Who's remapped a GTA

Sandys dyno'd his, have a look here:

opinions about 156 GTA dyno test - Alfa Romeo Forum

I've heard there is a bit of a dip on the torque curve between 3 & 4K, but Sandys doesn't seem to show it..

Re: Who's remapped a GTA

I can't see that Dynoplot but from memory that was a stock GTA plot, there were no dips in my GTAs power just solid all the way through, the Dyno backed up my seat of the pants feel which was that peak torque was coming in nearer the redline rather than the 4800 or so that is normally quoted, the engine was great, had probably only done about 3k there and it definately loosened up after a few more k, I was forever hitting the limiter when I first got it as there was no drop off in acceleration at all, just felt like it was getting stronger and stronger until the limiter took the fun away. I almost fitted a shift light

Re: Who's remapped a GTA

I wouldn't bother with a remap unless you are serious about trackdays. For any barely legal road use, this car has more than enough power and it seems pretty smooth to me. Once you get used to it, my only complaint was that there was a bit of throttle lag low down (the response higher up is great) but I found that fitting an intake upgrade gave better throttle response. It makes it sound nicer as well.

I would spend your money on intake, brakes, dampers/springs/coilovers and even exhaust first. A remap is bound to make a dent on your premiums as well so there will be a cost there. But enjoy it whatever you do.

Cheers,

Nigel

I'd agree with that.

Strangely, I can't recall hitting the rev limiter in this car, although I quite often did in the 2.0 TS. I think there's a very definite point at just over 6k where you sense there's more benefit in shifting up. Maybe I just don't have the heart for bouncing off the rev limiter in my baby!

Re: Who's remapped a GTA

My 1.8 pulls like a train and I hit the limiter now and again if I'm flooring it. It pulls very well.

Re: Who's remapped a GTA

Gotta say its probably more worthwhile changing up just after 6.5K in the V6.. You can tell there's not much left in it.

Re: Who's remapped a GTA

Agree. Once you get to that level you know it's time to change. Also, in any gear from 3rd up you are most likely doing an illegal speed at 6500 revs (at least in the UK), so there's probably a direct relationship between the number of times you hit the limiter and the possibility of points on your licence.....

Cheers,

Nigel
