Turbo upgrade
Hello! I have just bought a Alfa 145 yesterday. The turbo does not work in it. Might be a minor problem, but in case more serious and I need to replace the kit, I would like to upgrade it to a more powerful turbo. As I completely new to diesels and Alfas I might have silly questions... Is it possible to fit a size bigger turbo kit into the car without big changes ?(actually I believe it fits exactly as the engine is probably the same?!) and if so how does the engine copes with the higher output? As I understand diesel turbos are powered by the exhaust gases, so it would probably need higher revolutions to start working which would mean I would have slower acceleration at lower speeds!? If that is the case I should rather stick to the original kit I guess... How much does a new kit costs? I am going on a 1300 miles journey mainly through Germany so I would like it to be fixed by then! Thanks for any answer!!!
