Brera Q4 3,2L
Hey guys,
Wanting a bit of help/info/opinions. My dad has just bought the Brera 3,2L, but is looking to get more power out of it. Having come from the 1985 GTV6 3.0L, the Brera seems like a watered down version (engine wise).
I did a bit of searching on the forums, but didnt really find much info. It seems most ppl here have the 2.2 version of the Brera.
Im wanting to know if anyone has tried turbo-charging or supercharging the Brera yet (besides Autodelta, its not really an option for him as he doesn't live in the UK). I read bout some companies offering remaps to the ECU, not sure how much of an upgrade that is. The current rev limiter is quite a joke. Any performance info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Here's a pic of the Beauty: PURE SEX ON WHEELS!

Lovely car and, I would imagine exhaust remap and induction might help the engine along a bit. That is about the cheapest option rather than going down the cams or forced induction

Re: Brera Q4 3,2L
Thanks Dirk,
My dad has already spoken to Dawie, and his suggestion was to drop a 3,7L in there. He is keeping contact with them, will tell you if anything develops.

Re: Brera Q4 3,2L
putting a 3.7 in would cost a fortune I imagine !!
the standard exhaust/filter/remap combo should get say 285bhp + the exhaust should save some weight + lightweight wheels and it would be quick I'd imagine/hope

Re: Brera Q4 3,2L
Thanks for the info, but thats not really enough "added" bhp.
Definitely looking at forced induction, and/or larger engine.
My mate just got a new Gallardo, and this Brera has to keep up :P

Whats your budget? Nothing less than the Supercharged 3.7 conversion will keep up with a Gallardo!

Re: Brera Q4 3,2L
Spoke to my dad last night, and he is looking to spend about R60 000 on the engine. And isn't really wanting to go down the bigger engine route. Just adding some forced induction.
The main question is, turbo or super? and why?

Re: Brera Q4 3,2L
MattBrera,I have increased power and torque by fitting hi flow Catco metallic cats and a Supersprint exhaust system.I did before and after dyno tests and now have 211 engine kw's.The difference is incredible.Instant throttle response, and the car feels as if the gear ratios are half a gear lower. An Alfa dealer in Australia was stunned at the improvement, especially the torque. He commented that the 156GTA didn"t feel as if it had the same grunt and it was the gearing that was the reason the GTA felt more responsive.(ie the 3.2 Brera165kmh in 3rd gear and the 156GTA 120kmh?)I suggest your father explore this avenue and then get a custom remap and he will be more than happy with the Brera's performance and save 1000's dollars as well.
