Re: ECU - Chipped

I'm quite surprised to be honest that someone would poorly 'remap/chip' a 2004 GT

It's possible that what you have is a 'Piggy back' chip which is plugged into the ECU and then hooked up to the car.

Although, even the simplest of Alfa dealers/mechanics should be able to rectify this for you within the space of a day so I can't see why it's taking so long for you to get this annoyance rectified,

One thing's for sure though, you need to get it sorted ASAP and back to factory standard.

Then you can start to really enjoy Alfa ownership

Welcome aboard!

The proud new owner of a '97 GTV 2.0 TS Lusso,

They bought the franchise. All I know is that R*D created most of the stock remaps.

The original users of the Millenium OBD tuning in the UK.

Re: ECU - Chipped

Millennium is just a tool though and Celtic tuning buy there files elsewhere. Re Dot racing are/were brake part importers not sure how that makes you a engine tuning specialist. The Alfa tuning world is indeed quite bizarre!

Re: ECU - Chipped

Took it to a Fiat garage locally yesterday as they still have a strong Alfa connection.

Spoke to the guy there, and he told me that the little box alongside my battery is not the ECU, this is what has been added and it is wired into the ECU. It is going back to have the Turbo hose replaced in a week, and he is gong to chase the electric connections to see how it has been fitted. He will then advise if it can simply be removed or not, and hence returning the car back to standard factory settings. He said it a performance enhancer that has been added, so obviously people are out there doing this in ways other than ECU remaps.

If anyone thinks I being spun a story, let me know, as there is another Alfa main dealer I could go to a little further away, but just as accessible.

Anyway, thanks to this site for the diagnostic of the hissing sound which was the turbo hose as appears to be a common fault. As I have had an intermitent turbo boost error, would it be woth my while having the Solenoid valve that controls the turbo VNT replaced at the same time that this hose is fitted? Are these the type of jobs which should be done at the same time to save time?

Thanks again

Re: ECU - Chipped

From what i've read, it sounds like it might be a "tuning box" of some sort?
