Re: Alfa 156 tuning tips

i have met angel tuning reps - they are very knowledgable about alfa's.

they talked me out of re-mapping my 2l TS, but they will do yours if your keen.

they say diesels are much better for it, but there is some gain on a petrol.

google them

Re: Alfa 156 tuning tips

I have had two Angel maps on my JTD, but having seen what Red Dot in Watford can do with a Twin Spark I would advise a day trip down south and get them to do it. A guy on here got his 1.6 T.S. remapped by them and it gave a 17bhp peak increase and get this: more torque throughout the entire rev range than peak torque before the remap.

Re: Alfa 156 tuning tips

I had my 1.8 done at Red Dot.

My reaction is this... - The difference is amazing. You loose that flat spot below 3000RPM. Transforms the engine characteristics!

In addition you gain a discount if you are a premio club member here.

are red dot watford only?

may be an expensive trip from belfast!

do you need intake and exhaust upgrades to make it worth it?

Re: Alfa 156 tuning tips

Red Dot are watford based, they have a rolling road. They will do a call out if required but it will just be a standard remap, no diagnostics and isnt the best option in my opinion.

Perhaps you can call them and they will recommend someone that uses their maps near you?

No you dont need any other mods.

Although I did remove the resonator and fit a GTA intake pipe to the airbox.. very common mod Bob and it only cost £15 for the part! Makes about 2-3 BHP extra so not much, but the real benefit is when at speed and you want to overtake for example.

You don't need upgrades to make a remap worthwhile, but if you are planning upgrades I'd do them before the remap, so the remap can take into account a freer flowing exhaust/induction system.

You'll get more BHP/£ from a remap than any other mod, even on a N/A petrol if you ask me, and its also one of the only mods that will increase torque low down as well as increase power top end, a lot of other mods will cause you to gain power at the top in exchange for torque at the bottom..

Back on the road: Alfa 156 3.0 24v V6, Silver with red leather, Q2 diff, 17" GTA Teledials, headlights & inlet manifold, AutoDelta carbon intake,
SuperSprint exhaust, Dastek Unichip & FK coilovers - my 245bhp beast!

Gone but not forgotten: Alfa 156 2.4 JTD Veloce, Vela Blu, Angel 'mad map' & BMC CDA, Ferodo DS2500s - the fastest tractor in town!

Re: Alfa 156 tuning tips

autodelta just use ragazzon units. Autodelta are good, but expensive and in my opinion. Overpriced.. heavily.
