Bog Standard 156 Sele

Hi Gang,
Got a silver 2001 156 Selespeed - just a standard - which is reason enough to absolutely love it!

I want to make changes little by little , probably around £100 or so a month.

Outside - for looks
Inside car - for looks
Inside bonnet - for performance

Just to make it different from another older silver 156 at the bottom of my road ( where I quite often have to park, whne come back late and lack of parking space !),

I have had the mirrors painted siver £35
Put chrome effect strips on the grill aprox £5

Where to go next as I have never been into the world of tuning or modding - no other car I previously had deserved it !

I think next will be the clear side repeater lenses

and probably a simple understated boot lip - no plane tails !

Any other suggestions eg
Wipers,
Side /front enhancements /skirt etc?

Cheerz

So long as it still resembles an Alfa, that's fine?:

My short list would be......

Clear repeaters
GTA style headlights
Ferodo brake pads and new Dot4 brake fluid
GTA intake pipe
Top quality front speakers and headunit
Zender / Alfa bootlip spoiler

Yep Pascs
thinking of the Clear repeaters and Zender / Alfa bootlip spoiler for a start.

Ok silly question time :
Does one just change the repeater lens or is there need to change the bulb to, ie is it ok to have a car which is not indicating with a orange light?

Re: Bog Standard 156 Sele

If you buy clear repeaters then you might want to change the orange bulbs to chrome repeater bulbs - these give orange light but actually have a chrome surface. This will avoid the 'fried egg' effect of standard clear repeaters - a lot depends if you buy crystal clear repeaters or silver / clear repeaters

So what is it?

(Orange repeater = white bulbs)

clear repeaters = orange bulbs

crystal clear repeaters = chrome bulbs ???

Is something like this ok and worth it price-wise?

Re: Bog Standard 156 Sele

Yes they would be fine - they will come with amber bulbs to replace the standard clear bulbs.

If you then decide you dont like the amber bulbs because you can see a bit of the orange through the clear repeater then you can go for chrome bulbs like these.

Chrome 501 Side Repeater Bulbs BMW mini / cooper X3 X5 on eBay, also Bulbs Lenses, Lights Lighting Accessories, Car Tuning Styling, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 18-Feb-08 20:24:48 GMT)

Re: Bog Standard 156 Sele

Nice one Pascs, I'll get them as well , they look well smart,

so it is these very 501s that I need (as it does not say alfa 156 in the ad)

Re: Bog Standard 156 Sele

Those are the right type - they are pretty much standard 5W bulb so any that look like that with 501 should be ok. I just typed in "chrome bulbs 501" in ebay and 150 came up

You might not need them but on some clear repeaters you can see the orange bulb and it looks a bit better when you dont see them

Re: Bog Standard 156 Sele

I'd rather have clear and silver for a couple of quid more and not see any orange unless indicating.

Thanks for the heads up mate.

Re: Bog Standard 156 Sele

ok I have now received my clear side repeaters now; are the original orange ones on the car easy to remove? Do they come off by hand or require prising by a screw driver or similar?

Thanks
