Re: 147 tuning

Ruffy, forget that, for the good well of your new Alfa!

First because you can't take the chip from your ECU. Second because there's nothing better than a remap. Third because you should never relay on this things, from unknowned people.

Re: 147 tuning

OK
but when i put my car in for a service wont the mechanics notice the re-map and invaldate the warrenty? i thought i could remove this plug and play thing, when taking the car for a service so they wont know its been tampered with.
your thought please.
and cheers for input

Re: 147 tuning

That's precisely the opposite. They wont trace a remap, BUT it's easy to see if someone has put his hands at the ECU. Besides... in the old days we could change the chip from the ECU but with extra care, and having to weld it. That doesn't apply to our days anymore.

P.S. Welcome.

Re: 147 tuning

Wouldn't touch it with a bargepole. Plenty of people on here have had their JTDs remapped with wonderful results, I'd really go down that path and avoid any cheap ebay tat.

Welcome along

Re: 147 tuning

thanks for the input guys, much appreciated. how much do you think a re-map would cost? and is it reverable?

Ruffy, its reversable but trust me you won't want to. After a remap they rev up like a petrol!

Where abouts in the country are you based?

You're welcome, Ruffy. A remap is always reversible, but as Pud said, you wont go back! A good service will make happy, always.

Thats handy, Red Dot are just "round the corner" from you, in Watford. They are probably the best Alfa remappers in the country (having never used them, only their biggest competitor).. Take a look at their website:

Red Dot Racing -- Braking Products OBD tuning Rolling Road

You should be able to take your 1.9 JTDm to about 190bhp.

Re: 147 tuning

I can recommend red dot, I have used them twice and will be returning shortley.

I have not used angel, but I have used 1 of there maps (don't know what power it was meant to be) but - not a patch on red dot, in fact I have experienced a jtd map quicker from one of them 35,000 tuning files dvd'd you can buy off ebay, and the ebay one didn't smoke half as much as the angel one!!!
