Wave 156 GTA Rolling Road run :)

Hi all, (Correct forum this time i hope)

Been ages since i posted here due to work commitments but at last i got my 156 GTA on our RR

Mods so far

Autodelta Carbon intake + K&N Filter
Ragazzon Cat back Exhaust

Power 261.8 Bhp
Torque 226.7 Lbs Ft

Quite please with what she put out seems like quite a fit GTA...Will keep this thread updated as and when i get a chance to do more to her.

Next stage is Unichip Q+ Piggyback Ecu and remap to see what gains i can get. Looks like there is quite a bit left in the engine, especially looking at the AFR's she is running 4k and above where she drops from 12 - 1 to as low as 10.5 - 1

After this i will look into getting secondary decats made up map her again and see if there are any gains to be had. Then manifolds and primary decats and remapped. Should give us an idea of what we can achieve at each stage

Anyway here are the graphs...

Cheers

Phil

Evo VII FQ787 Pics & Spec

My GTA Pics Autodelta Intake, Ragazzon Exhaust, Dastek Unichip, Q2 Diff, Eibach suspension, 330mm brake upgrade, Tarox Disks, Ferodo DS2500 Pads

Re: 156 GTA Rolling Road run :)

The A/F ratio is extremely low (i.e. rich) at mid+high RPMs. Also notice that when it gets very low at 6000rpm your torque suddenly drops.

This is probably because the car has not been remapped and the ECU always gives lots of extra fuel when it senses a mod that increases the flow capacity of the engine. Optimally it shouldn't be lower than 12.5 IMHO. Your car's fuel consumption must have increased dramatically and you may even hear the exhaust pop on lift-off.

When you install the Q+ you will notice that the injection duration map will have mostly negative values at high RPM to reduce the injected fuel instead of the opposite you would expect. This is normal and you should see a noticeable increase of BHP and smoother power curves after the remap.

Don't get too excited my friend, mine made 258bhp and 232lp/ft of torque as bog standard. in the same type of dyno.

Judging from 'pre-remap' printouts I've seen posted on here before from Twin Spark owners and V6 owners, I'd say yes. A remap results in a smoother line..

198 @ the wheels

GTA standard is 250 @ the flywheel (ie no transmission losses - usually 19-21 % on a FWD car)

Re: 156 GTA Rolling Road run :)

Cool car man. Lovely power curve some of the Honda owners in Ireland would love to have that lol. What are you doing with the EVO now??

It will be good to have a decent tuner in Ireland for Alfa's are you and Ai going to expand into other makes of cars other than Jap??

When I get a 2 litre engine in my car I will be going with a Unichip too, they seem to be the best comprise and offer the best specs for the money.

We are indeed mate, expanding into other marques already building a couple of Escort Cossies at present and i am selling my Evo for a new acquisition in the summer that going to be British of all things

The Evo has done me proud but time to move on, finally peaked power with her at 787bhp which i think is the most powerful GT35R powered Evo in Europe..So stripped her back down to std sold most of the parts off her and will sell the std car on. Fancy a new project

Re: 156 GTA Rolling Road run :)

Would i be correct in saying that if you was to install a diff, like a Q2, you would have less bhp at the wheels, is it an upgrade you are considering? would be interesting to see the difference, just out of interest

Re: 156 GTA Rolling Road run :)

Q2 diff will make zero difference at the wheels.

Peter K verified that the quaife diff had no impact on a dyno.

I would guess a clutch type diff could add very modest extra losses due to pre-load, not really an issue though since it will pay you back in spades for hard cornering.
