Re: dump valve on a 2.4jtd
You really don't want to ask this question. It will sound like a dump valve. Tssshh.....werrrrr tsssch..... Very silly noise and has no benefit to your JTD
You are not driving an Impreza STI....
Incommmiiiing!!

Re: dump valve on a 2.4jtd
Dump valve won't work on a JTD, cause there is no throttle to close. On a turbo petrol, coming off the accelerator closes the throttle butterfly, allowing a build up of pressure outside the inlet manifold for the valve to then 'dump' in a big hiss.
On a JTD (or any TDi) there is no throttle butterfly, so any boost the turbo creates when you come off the acclerator just goes straight through the engine, only no fuel is injected.
I think this might have been one of the first things I asked when I bought my JTD

Back on the road: Alfa 156 3.0 24v V6, Silver with red leather, Q2 diff, GTA Teledials, headlights & inlet manifold, AutoDelta carbon intake,
decat pipe and SuperSprint rear box, Dastek Unichip, FK coilovers - my 245bhp beast!
Gone but not forgotten: Alfa 156 2.4 JTD Veloce, Vela Blu, Angel 'mad map' & BMC CDA, Ferodo DS2500s - the fastest tractor in town!

Dump Valve? Do you really want to sound like an old Corporation bus?

the 140 has a butterfly which closes via the vacuum box thingy at the back of the engine, it is used in conjunction with the EGR system.
Capping off the EGR and leaving the vacuum connected to the butterfly may cause a build up of pressure one side, but engine side it will try sucking from somewhere - perhaps oil through the valve stem oil seels? (not good)
I thought these dump valves came free with chav baseball caps, exhaust tail pipes the size of paint tins, blue LED's you stick on your washer jets or fake leather(ette) seat covers.

Re: dump valve on a 2.4jtd
I wouldn't buy a subaru if the choice was either a subaru or getting a bus!! Cheap interiors, badly finished cars and the modern day equivilant of a nova sr (albeit a hell of a lot faster), i.e. everyone has one.....
Just my opinion but Scoobys don't do it for me in anyway at all!
