Cheers for that. £1050 inc VAT though, then there'll be postage on top.. A bit of a markup but is it worth it to buy them from a British firm instead of eBay?

Re: Brake conversion 284mm -> 330mm

How do the Fiat Coupe 20VT brembo's compare with the GTA ones? I know my coupe has 330mm discs. Alternative auto's sell new calipers for £200 a side. The discs are different though due to the 5 stud pattern, but even if you bought the correct discs seperately you could probably save quite a bit of cash.

No idea really, maybe they are one and the same? What was the thickness of the Coupe discs? The GTA 330mm discs are 32mm thick and come in 5x98. You can also get 330x30mm discs and 330x28mm discs from Brembo, which would mean they use different calipers (although I'm not sure if these discs are available in 5x98)

I'd imagine if the Coupe discs are 32mm thick then they are infact the same caliper's found on the GTA with 330mm discs, only the discs themselves won't be 5x98 but whatever the coupes PCD is.

Re: Brake conversion 284mm -> 330mm

I thought the Coupe's used only a 305mm discs - with 330mm discs you'd need 17" wheels to clear them

Indeed you are correct Pascs, sorry about that. They are indeed 305 mm, and 32mm thick. I just went outside to measure them. I am not sure how much the calipers themselves would differ though.

Simon.

ALFA ROMEO 156 GTA 4 KOLBEN BREMBO BREMSSATTEL GT R32 on eBay, also Bremssättel, Bremsenteile, Auto-Ersatz- -Reparaturteile, Auto Motorrad Teile (end time 20-Mar-08 15:51:17 GMT)

These would be nice.....but not much cheaper than buying them from Alfa direct. I wonder if its cheaper to buy Brembos direct from Italy?

They should be 305 x 28mm and the calipers from what I remember are identical to the GTA 305 setup.

I also remember hearing of Coupe 20VT owners who retrofitted the GTA 330mm Brembos on the Coupe, infact one of the owners advertised the calipers for sale here a while back...he had also fitted 5 stud GTV 3.0 hubs and was using Alfa GTV 3.0 Teledial rims with them!

As for that ebay auction, the seller is selling only 1 caliper from what I can gather!!!

I "Babelfished" the auction page and it pretty much confirmed it! That was only 1 caliper for sale!! And yeah they do only cost about £250 each from Alfa!

Also, I dont know if anyone else is aware of this, but the smaller 305mm Brembo caliper costs MORE than the larger 330 one!! £300+ last time I checked!

Which is also the same set-up found on the GTV 3.0 and the 166 £.0 is it not?

well seems that seller placed on the wrong ad about the discs' size
these are the brakes
12 Tune - Alfa Romeo :: GT :: Sport brakes & pads :: GT (Excluding 3.2 cc) D2 front big brake kit

From what i have red D2 breaks are AP's breaks

Re: Brake conversion 284mm -> 330mm

The D2 kits are VERY good, I had a K Sport (exactly the same just a different label) set up on my Evo, 356mm with 8 pots up front and 330mm 6 pots at the rear. They were excellent quality and the braking was superb and offer better feel than the equivalent AP set up and alot cheaper.

That site could be wrong, not the ebay ad.

d2racingsport.co.uk

Down the page states the thickness of the 330 are 32mm. There is a contact page to get confirmation.

Looks like the rotors can be bought separately, also do street pads and carbon metallic race pads. Some snazzy looking coilovers too, external reservoir with gauge. Sell all sorts, even engine oil.

Re: Brake conversion 284mm -> 330mm

Anyone else interested in buying the D2 8-piston callipers with 330mm discs for the front? I would be up for organising a group purchase..

Also, these are a good alternative, from what I've read on other forums they are exactly the same just re-branded: K-Sport. Suspension, Alignment Components and Motorsport Accessories

Kit price with 'sport' pads is about £900 inclusive of VAT and delivery to the UK. Hopefully we should be able to get that down quite a bit if a group buy is arranged. Have a search on Google if you are interested, they are popular on a lot of Skyline/ Lancer Evo forums.

Back on the road: Alfa 156 3.0 24v V6, Silver with red leather, Q2 diff, 17" GTA Teledials, headlights & inlet manifold, AutoDelta carbon intake,
SuperSprint exhaust, Dastek Unichip & FK coilovers - my 245bhp beast!

Gone but not forgotten: Alfa 156 2.4 JTD Veloce, Vela Blu, Angel 'mad map' & BMC CDA, Ferodo DS2500s - the fastest tractor in town!

Re: Brake conversion 284mm -> 330mm

I may have been interested but they dont make them for the GTV.

By the way, you may want to speak to Bren at Apex Performance as he has done some very good group buys for me before, he was also the cheapest when I bought the K-Sport kit for my Evo.

Oh yeah and make sure you get the DS2500 pads, the K-sport ones are VERY dusty.

Yeah I will be going for the DS2500s ideally, I've used them before and rate them.

What did you think to the K-Sport kit by the way? Did you use the 330mm set up that I'm considering?

Re: Brake conversion 284mm -> 330mm

Hi All,

I have been thinking about upgrading the brakes on my GTA, I have the std 305 setup + DS2500 pads on now. The obvious choice would be the uprated GTA 330 discs and calipers, but the downside with this setup is weight! A 330 GTA caliper is 5.8 kg, a disc 10,3 kg! Not really a good option then...

I am seriously considering this kit which developed specifically for Alfas (available for all 147, 156, GT, GTV 916 models), and seem to be top notch gear:

Alfastumper

I´ll try to translate the danish text for you:

"Extreme high performance kit developed especially for Alfa Romeo models.

-6 pot lightweight calipers (2.6 kg)
-330x32mm two-piece lightweight discs with aluminum hubs (8.1 kg)
-Braided brake hoses
-Caliper brackets in extremely strong high quality steel
-Sport pads suitable for daily use in our climate
-Mounting kit incl. anti-squeal plates

The kit requires a minimum of 17" inch 7.5" wide ET35 rims. Could possibly be used with spacers on narrower rims, or rims with greater ET than ET35"

Price is approx. £1100 if i got the DKK->SEK->Pound conversion right.

Take a look at the rest of the site also, it is really something. To my knowledge it is one of the best/most comprehensive Alfa tuning dealers out there.

/Fredric

K-Sport kit was fantastic, I had 356mm 8 pots up front with 330mm 6 pots on the rear. Really good value for money and I found they gave better feed back than the AP set up.
