Idea Anyone running on Biodiesel........

.....with a re-map?

Is it possible with a GT JTD?

There is a link on Angel Tuning, and with the current prices of fuel rising at a crazy rate I have been thinking of investing in biodiesel production.

But.......I also want a re-map.

Any thoughts?

Re: Anyone running on Biodiesel........

Nope, BUT from this year every liter of diesel fuel must have 2% bio-diesel.

I personally will not try that on my car:

1. It will eat any rubber part, meaning that you will end up repairing your high pressure fuel pump very often, which is costly!

2. If the quality of the bio-diesel is not high enough you will end up repairing the engine!

So Bio-Diesel....no thanks.

What is more, because of stupid bio-diesel food prices are going up, and in the end bio-diesel is worse then normal diesel...as is the case with DPF...

Now th EU is rethinking their strategy on bio-diesel...and are wondering what to do with DPF filters...because of which the cars are consuming more

Re: Anyone running on Biodiesel........

Simple answer... dont bother.

It is not worth it. You will not save any money, and your engine will need to be modified. Unless you want it to die.

Re: Anyone running on Biodiesel........

Hmmmm...these are interesting comments and are completely the opposite of what i was led to believe.

The general concensus from various material on the net suggests no modifications are required if the engine is built post 1985, as pointed out above to stop the rubber corosion issues.

To clarify i am not looking at the "tip old veggie oil into the fuel tank" method, i am looking at converting clean fresh vegetable oil into fuel then mixing it with diesel.

Anybody else have any comments, possibly someone who has tried biodiesel?

Re: Anyone running on Biodiesel........

Particulates will clog up your fuel filter...I work for a biofuels magazine. I can safely say I wouldn't use the stuff.

Re: Anyone running on Biodiesel........

So as advised after 1500 miles of using biodiesel change the fuel filter, thereafter revert back to the normal service schedule?

Re: Anyone running on Biodiesel........

Sorry I had a typo in my message. I wouldnt use the stuff buddy. I know a few people who tried it in their 2.4JTDm engines and they ran rough.

Re: Anyone running on Biodiesel........

15% blend is ok to use. Anything more than this and you may have issues.

Re: Anyone running on Biodiesel........

I might be leetle off topic, but in NZ we have bio-petrol, 10% EtOH, which Alfas not only can run on,but benefi from. 1970's alfas are none the worse for ear on the stuff, and later alfas thrive.....We also have bio-diesle, same story.
