Alfadiag question

Hi

I am not sure if this is the right part of the forum to ask this question but here goes!

I am keen to purchase Alfadiag for my 145 but I am not 100% sure on the interface. Their website says only a serial interface should be used in one of the FAQs and then goes on in another about the USB interface; does anyone know if a USB interface such as the one advertised by ecufix.com will do the job?

Basically my problem is that my laptop does not have a serial port - I know I could buy a serial PCMCIA but if the USB works, all well and good.

Thanks
Rich

Re: Alfadiag question

You might try the 145/146 forum but there are threads all over the place on ecu and airbag diagnostics. I'm still trying to get mine working. I thought I'd followed all the advice but can't get the laptop to recognise the interface, or is it the interface that's not recognising the ecu? I dont' know anything anymore!
Waaahh.
To return to the point, perhaps by now any issues with USB interfaces might have been resolved, but there are bluetooth interfaces, just to mess things up more, which might be worth a look.
I know on the PC in the house I keep getting messages that some device or other can run faster and is restircetd bt the machines USB (not USB-2?) So perhaps the older type was slow and interfered with the clocking of the ecu/interface signals. ?????
