hi am thinking of putting diesel tuning chip on it which will take it to 160bhp, its a plug and play one from car performance parts on ebay. Are these chips any good or will they start causing problems with the engine especially the turbo etc. Anybody done this?
WHAT ABOUT A CHIP FROM PSI TUNING, THE CHIP IS £400 WHICH IS MORE THE PRICE ID EXPECT TO PAY FOR THIS KIND OF MOD, ANYBODY USED THIS COMPANY?

Re: alfa 147 jtd 16v 140bhp

Chips don't come highly regarded on here I'm afraid. I personally have a bad experience, I bought my JTD with a chip on it which was causing intermittent immobiliser failure. Ended up needing a whole new ECU. Got it remapped a few thousand miles later and its been spot on for 30,000 miles since.

Go for a remap, you can take the power upto about 185bhp on the 140, and you might notice a slight increase in fuel economy. Its done by adjusting boost, injection timings, fuel rail pressure, throttle response..

The cheapy eBay chip just tells the ECU the fuel rail is not under enough pressure..

Back on the road: Alfa 156 3.0 24v V6, Silver with red leather, Q2 diff, 17" GTA Teledials, headlights & inlet manifold, AutoDelta carbon intake,
SuperSprint exhaust, Dastek Unichip & FK coilovers - my 245bhp beast!

Gone but not forgotten: Alfa 156 2.4 JTD Veloce, Vela Blu, Angel 'mad map' & BMC CDA, Ferodo DS2500s - the fastest tractor in town!
