Re: Dampers and Springs - Can you buy any combination?
Theoretically you can, provided the dampers and springs are designed for more or less the same amount of lowering (or no lowering). Of course every setup will feel different and you have no chance to estimate in advance what springs and dampers will be a good match. The best way is to try someone’s car that has uprated dampers or springs or both to have an idea. It is very subjective, depends on your idea about comfort and your driving style. The most usual and proved combinations for people who didn’t buy coilovers but matched separately bought springs + dampers together probably are:
