Remap and Fuel consumption (petrol 1.6)

Hi All,

Im thinking of remapping my 1.6 145 at Red Dot.

Now, I know the gains are not as significant as if the car was a diesel.

Im curious to find out how the remap affects fuel consumption. Overall BHP increase does not really interest me however improved driveability does (torque curve).

I'd be interested to hear the results from your remap especially if you have a 1.6 petrol

Also if your thinking of a remap, perhaps we could arrange a group discount?

Any advice/feedback gratefully received.

Cheers

Re: Remap and Fuel consumption (petrol 1.6)

Well I had my 1.8 remapped and I get exactly the same consumption. And I have a very heavy right foot. We already have a discount set up with Red Dot, you get 10% off remaps, but you need to be a premio member of our club.....

The driveability is the best part... Martin has just had his 1.6 done.. have a look here..

Re: Remap and Fuel consumption (petrol 1.6)

I have my 147 1.6TS mapped by Jano (AD.uk) 100kkms ago. What I can say is that it improved my fuel consumption by, at least 0.5l/100kms, depending on the situations. I can have improvements of 0,8 and more, believe me. Thanks to a away better low torque, better drivability, faster throttle response.
Of course that, if I push it hard... I wont even look at the consumption.

Re: Remap and Fuel consumption (petrol 1.6)

I had my 1,6 remapped 6 months ago, along with other mods. The consumption is the same as before, maybe raised very very slightly (5-10%) But I enjoy revving the car much more than before and drive it harder (its weekend car so I want to enjoy it). My opinion is that with the same driving style the consumption would be even lower than with OEM setup.

Many Thanks for all your responses... Sounds like a sure argument for the remap, more interested as stated previously I am more intereseted in driveability ie more torque throughout the rev range.

@operation Alfa - Yep I will be joining soon, i get some cool stickers and a discount on the remap... Sounds perfect to me.

Have a nice weekdn guys

Check out what i wrote out on my post here maybe, it will be of some use to you. I found it more economical after the remap on motorway journeys which is what I do all the time.

I have drove with my new map for a week now and can only recommend having it done. The fuel economy has stayed the same (if not improving slightly) and the performance gains were impressive for a small N/A engine.
Go to red dot where they will custom map your car while it is on the rolling road. That way you can see (and hear) the results on a graph and have it tailored to your needs and your car. Best way of doing it IMO. Good luck, keep us posted
