Brake discs

What make do people think is better out of TarOx, Green Stuff and Black Diamond? Don't really know which is best to order…

Re: Brake discs

Tarox is the same as Red Dot. I use their 20 grooves, and I got 40% off by quoting my membership number from here!

I would highly recommend that you get a club membership, get your number and then give them a call

Re: Brake discs

That sounds good. Are they as good or better than the others? If so, I'll definitely do that.

Re: Brake discs

Identical to Tarox discs performance wise. They used to be the UK distributors....

All good here. I would use the DS2500 pads though.

I can't seem to find any for my 164, unfortunately.

Re: Brake discs

try the "performance friction" pads then... Trailbraker wrote a very good review of them on his GTA

Re: Brake discs

yellow stuff pads are available for many cars, but not listed on the website, these are as good as you get before you go into track/race only pads, ie. performance in the cold as the limiting factor.
I run yellowstuff, they are good for 900 degrees.

Re: Brake discs

i used to use black diamond disks, found them to be excellent when paired to Ferodo DS2500 pads but hey, if you can get a 40% discount on red dot you would be mad not to!

Re: Brake discs

Am I right in thinking the Red Dots are about £200? Even with 40% off, the Black Diamonds are a bit cheaper, so I might go with them.

Re: Brake discs

Was thinking 20 grooves. Red Dot Racing online shop seems to be broken, so it's a bit hard to work out as I had to look elsewhere and that shop seems quite expensive.

Re: Brake discs

I think I paid just under £200 for pads and discs but I cant remember... It is a pain in the ass that their shop is down.

Well Happy Re: Brake discs

just fitted a set of black diamond drilled and grooved, the difference between the old original discs and the new ones is vast. Ordered discs and black diamond predator pads from euro performance car parts, whose price was about £20 cheaper than getting them direct from black diamond. Checked new pads, and discs, before fitting and found that the pads were slightly different to the original ones, they were'nt machined enough on the shoulder where they sit on the caliper carrier, meaning they would'nt let the caliper retaining bolts (sliders) line up. Phoned e.p.c.p. explained the problem, they sent me out a set of EBC green stuff pads, supposedly more expensive but did'nt charge me. Had tarox discs on previous bella and had no problems, just fancied trying something different, pricewise they're all pretty much the same, very happy with these though. Good luck

autodelta re-map, carbon intake, de-cat supersprint exhaust, lowered eibach springs with koni top adjustable shocks.GTA intake mod, Black diamond drilled and grooved discs, 45mm intake runners,

Re: Brake discs

I've got cross drilled Brembo Sport discs and fast road pads all round on my 145 which are superb - about £240 from Brembo - buy online today

On my 33 I have Tarox 40 groove discs and fast road pads all round which are also superb - you get a bit of whine from the discs under hard braking though (due to the grooves)

Hope that helps

Rich

Re: Brake discs

I paid £211 for a set of front Tarox drilled and grooved discs and fast road pads, also a tub of copper ease (although i did have 25% discount). The brakes are much better than OEM.

Re: Brake discs

tbh is more to do with pads than the discs. i'd go for OEM discs and the best pads i could find.

That was my thinking, only i was told not to fit the pads (the ones i bought) to OEM discs. That may have been sales tactics but he was very adament about it.

Re: Brake discs

in effect the brake disc is a lump of metal no matter how may hole you drill into it or grooves you etch out its still just a lump. pads are where the real differences are
