Wiring in a boost gauge...

I've fitted my boost gauge to my 156 - can I wire the 12v lighting wire to the wire that is the supposed to connect to 12v ignition ?

Also my multi-meter is playing up, can anyone suggest the best 12v Ignition wire to splice into - ciggy lighter maybe ???

thats what I did, connect both the positives for your boost gauge to either ignition or lighting.
