Replica GTA wheel offset and size + tyre size choice

Hi,

I'm thinking about replacing my standard 14inch steelwheel / hubcap combo (running 185/65-r14 Toyos) with a GTA wheel.

My suspension set-up is currently standard, but will likely change later to a more fast-road oriented set-up (perhaps Ron Simons spec'd stuff..)

What off-set / size combination should I go for? And what tyre size (and even tyre type) yealds best results?

I've got a 1967 stepnose GT 1300 J

Re: Replica GTA wheel offset and size + tyre size choice

There are a number of replica wheels available from the usual suspects but tyre choice is difficult if you stick with a 14" rim. Your current choice is slightly non-standard anyway as it is a different rolling diameter to stock. I have 185/70 14s on my Spider as it preserves the original wheel diameter, adds more width but doesn't compromise the feel too much. I also have suspension upgrades which is probably more worthwhile doing as your next upgrade, rather than changing your current tyres.

But nice new alloys do look a lot more impressive from the outside than an expensive suspension upgrade

Re: Replica GTA wheel offset and size + tyre size choice

I believe the Alfaholic replicas are the best. At least from what i have read in feedback from others. They come with at least two choice of Offset. If You contact Alfaholics, Max will be able to help you.

I am considering a set of GTA wheels of my own, so would be very intersted in hearing what you end up with.

For tires if you want something sporty and fun, you could try a set of Yokohama A038 Semi Slicks. Great fun, but the car definitely needs a firm suspension and new bushings or it will feel and sound like is bering pulled apart once you start doing g's in the corners. I am really loving the feeling you get through the steering with the addition of Semi slicks. The rear feels so much more planted and the grip is without comparrison.
