Car cover

Anyone recommend a good in-door car cover that's trimmed to fit a GT coupe well?

Re: Car cover

I bought an indoor cover from Alfaholics, £35 and is a great fit for a coupe.

Re: Car cover

Hi,

I bought one from Vertar and it was shaped to the exact GTJ shape. I am very happy with it. It does let in a little bit of water in very heavy rain but it is definately breathable. Some mornings my cars are covered in condensation and the GTJ is dry.

Edit, Oops yes mine is an outdoor cover.

Just make sure the garage it's kept in is completely dry. If any moisture get's trapped under there it can make a real mess!!! In my opinion they are not worth the risk unless you are doing something very dusty next to the car. Better to leave the car with the windows open and some air getting around it.

Well, that's a good point. I was hoping to find a cover that was porous to allow air and moisture to move. My garage is part of my house and is well ventilated and has heating.... (yep my coupe is pretty mollycoddled)..but here in NL the air is obviously often quite humid.

I want a cover just to stop any small accidental scratches or knocks from my kids and keep dust off it. I drive the car every week if I can, but it's getting nearer winter and coordinating dry days with the schedule rarer.

Wave Re: Car cover

I really wouldn't bother you know. If one of your kids runs into it, a cloth cover won't offer much protection. I think you would be better telling them that if they go near your damn car there'll be no presents this Christmas!!

I know I sound paranoid but I had a fairly expensive breathable cover over one of my cars and the paint micro blistered where the cover was resting on it. As soon as my bodyshop guy saw it he just said "you had it covered up didn't you?".

That was in a garage which was colder and damper than yours by the sound of things. Since then I got a decent dehumidifier and have never used a cover.

I'm sure we can think of other things to spend your money on though!!

Re: Car cover

He he... I'm not particularly in a hurry to spend money as such (Scotsman living in Holland... do the math ) thanks for the advice!

Re: Car cover

Ah yes, but using the "Logic of Old Cars and Bloke's Hobbies", having not bought the car cover, you are now £XX better off and therefore have £XX "spare" to spend on your car!!!

This even applies to Scotsmen living overseas, but does not apply to the wife's handbag or shoe shopping.
