Colour Query

Hi, Angie posting using Geoff's ID!

We've just acquired a 1964 Sprint GT that we've been told was originally painted 'Bluette' (it's now white). Can anyone point me to a picture of a GT in this colour so we can see what it looks like?

Thanks

Re: Colour Query

knock yourself out

you can also e-mail the Alfa museum with your chassis number(VIN) and they will post you back pretty much everything they know.. fantastic people.. visit the museum, pay homage

The archive historians address is CentroDocumentazione@alfaromeo.com

cheers

Re: Colour Query

I have to agree that it looked lovely in the advert in white - of course I'm biased too as I have an Ivory Sprint GT.

BTW, you might struggle for info off AR about original colours etc. My car was asssembled in SA and all I got was it was a RHD GT and built about 1965.

Re: Colour Query

surely Alfa RSA couldn't outdo Alfa head office for record keeping ?!!

when i wrote to them about my duetto, i recv. quite a bit of info, including original colour (514), Aust. dealer delivered too and when etc..

doesn't hurt to ask, they also have also been known to provide copies of manuals and handbooks on (kind) request.

I feel the same way. Unless a car is stripped to it's bare shell and completely resprayed. (expensive), a car that's sprayed a different colour from that done in the factory, will always be obvious and just doesn't look right in my opinion.

Re: Colour Query

I think they are saying it WAS Bluette when built to be honest. But it looks great in White now and I think that Blue is too dark.

Re: Colour Query

I've got a parts car Giulia Super that is Bluette. Its not a really dark blue. I could polish up a bit and send you a pic if you want. Havent heard of many cars painted this colour. THere is a guy on the alfaBB with a coupe originally this colour, his username is Pathung.

Re: Colour Query

105 reasons - that would be great if you could? Though I am with VeloceMitch on this and think that the car looks great in white. But then my Caterham 7 is also white

Interestingly Angie took a neighbour out for a spin in it the other day - it turns out that her father, now sadly no longer with us, has a black one in his garage. But then there is also a Maserati 250F in there, so he was a man of exquisite taste!

Re: Colour Query

Angie again! I think we'll probably keep it white. TBH the paint job it has is pretty good - we believe it was done by Lombarda?

The BIG debate in the Dixon household at the moment is over the interior. According to the log book it was originally blue, which I believe is quite hard to get hold of (only seen one back seat offered on Alfaholics). Currently the interior is tan, which I really like, but HWMBO wants it black

Anyway - numpty question alert - would an export '64 GT have had round or square wing mirrors? Having looked at a few pictures I think round, but want to be sure before we order anything.

We're both sad & excited as the car goes off for restoration on Saturday so we'll be without it but it should be back better than ever and looking fab

Re: Colour Query

I think wing mirrors were dealer fitted options so in effect it would be up to the dealer or the customer what design to fit. Personally I think round look far better.
