Roundtail reversing light wiring

In the distant past the reversing light was removed from my 1968 roundtail and now there isn't a hole in the rear bodywork for the cable to feed through. Can someone tell me where on the rear panel the hole for the wire is meant to be?

Re: Roundtail reversing light wiring

You may find that the car was never fitted with a reverse lamp. I am trying to find out the exact date that reverse lamps became required by law, but I believe that it was as late as the 1980s. Before this they were optional.
If this is the case then you will probably find there is no defined position for a reverse lamp, and you can put it wherever you want so long as it is on the offside, and it is between 250- 1200mm of the ground.

Re: Roundtail reversing light wiring

My car did once have a reversing light. Part of the bracket is still attached to the bumper so I know where to position the new light. The problem is the power to run the light. The wiring loom has the white lead running to that area inside the boot but it has been disconnected and taped up.

The hole that I am looking for is the one that takes that power feed outside to the light. Is it hidden behind the bumper, part of the bumper mounting or just a simple hole drilled in the bodywork?
