3 - oil leak from front of engine

Car is 1750 1971 spider callled Janet

So it only squeaks if you touch the brakes when freewheeling, but not under power? I once had an intermittent rear end squeak that was the rear limit straps rubbing.

Sure it comes from the front and not further back in the drive chain? Apart from something obvious like the clutch, check the engine and gearbox mountings.
3 - oil leak from front of engine
Cam cover gasket or head gasket or somewhere else?

Re: Rattles and Bangs etc

Thanks guys -

Oil Leak looks like head gasket.

Had the car up on a ramp and we think its the prop shaft link before the slip dif (They is movment and noise).

The squeak has me total lost, we had no noise at all this weekend, then just gone for a run and we have the squeak again.

When we free wheel down a hill (without braking) it just squeals then when we touch the brakes it stops.

Intresting one this.

keep the comments coming.

Gary

Ps - how dear you say my cars a Bi*ch, however the wife does look round when i say that.

Re: Rattles and Bangs etc

Squeak could also be from a wheel bearing on the way out..

Re: Rattles and Bangs etc

Why not just leave the oil leak alone? With a bit of luck, some of the oil will find its way onto the brakes and cure your problem........!

For the clunk, either turn up the radio or take the roof down!

This advice could save you hundreds of pounds........
