Fiat Spider

Power Windows to Series 2 Spider

I have a 75 Spider to which I would like to upgrade the manual window winders to power assisted. I belive they introduced this in about 1978 with the American versions.

Since I've waited over 30 years to get this gorgous beauty I thought I'd add a modern touch. I have an 84 Pininfarina Spider with power windows and its a good touch for a classic car.

Has anyone ever attempted this ?. On first impressions the door structure appears to be the same. No doubt some adaptation will be required. I'm told that there are companies that will fit after market units, however I've chosen to source a motor from a 89 Quadrifolio.

The next issue is where to locate the switches. Not to many options I think without spoiling the centre console with ugly fittings. Any thoughts?

I'd like to hear if anyone has had a go at this, hopefully with success.
