These threads work well in the other tech lounges so I thoughts I'd start one here:thumbs:

I'll start - connected up the new old stock White stripe rear lights on my S4 & refitted the battery. All works as it should:D

Ordered the domed / rounded style headlights for my car from Highwood Alfa ready for collection on Christmas Eve.

Weather permitting, will take the S4 out for the first spin in 2 months & the last one of 2014 on Crimbo Eve too:cool:

What have you done to / with yours then:confused:

Cheers,

Today was Rome Holiday Day (if you've lived in Rome you know monday's are slow!) but this evening busy with a hot glue gun recommissioning the S3's number plate lamp holder, and cleaning/curing the three light insets, ready for boot reassembly.

Had a quick look at why the axle on the Super is off centre, making my tyres rub but Christmas duties and rain stopped play. Hopefully have another look tomorrow before I drive the Spider over to my dads for him to look after for a bit while I finish the Junior, he may have it for some time!

If I can make it what I did yesterday (I've been driving a desk all day)......

Continued the dash rebuild, got the dash lights, indicator, main beam and handbrake warning lights working (sounds easy doesnt it?!). got the air flow/heater flappy thing cable connected to the slider control. There are fewer cables hanging down now looking to be connected to something. Had to start the engine up, needed to check to see if it still sounded OK!

I'm going to get some photos posted soon, lots of work still to do though.

I used to drain mine into a 25 litre plastic Jerry can but that needed emptying every few days and was really quite heavy:eek:

It's now continiously drained via a long silicone hose & a small hole in the garage wall:thumbs:

Chipped and scrapped away (okay stabbed and sighed) at some more of the extensive layers of underseal applied by some ba$tard mechanic to hide his workmanship whilst pondering the most recently found rusty unobtanium panel on my Duetto (rear sub floor just in front of the axel).

I hate people who will not fix things correctly, they just don't deserve toys.

Took the cover off, reconnected the battery and drove it the 18 miles to work in Stevenage today.
My son is back from Uni. and needed to borrow my DD today so I jumped at the excuse to get the Spider out:thumbs:

It reminded me that I do need to investigate the vibration I get at 75mph plus. I'm guessing at propshaft balance as it is road speed rather than engine speed and I have had the wheels balanced.

Prop shafts dont just go out of balance, it could be a UJ though.

gearbox out

I spent yesterday reading and re-reading gearbox dis-assembly procedures, but the day before (Sunday) I finally:

1. Unbolted the motor mounts from the frame,
2. Jacked up the front of the sump (with a piece of wood on top of the jack),
3. Raised a transmission jack to contact/support the gearbox,
4. Slid the gearbox/clutch housing assembly off the engine,
4. Lowered the gearbox jack,
5. Moved the gearbox off the tranny jack onto a waiting piece of carpet on the floor, and
6. Pulled the carpet (with gearbox aboard) out from under the car on the passenger side.

I was quite proud of myself. Did the whole thing solo and didn't bend/break anything.

Been out in mine, around the Gower & Swansea / Neath.

Not started for c10 weeks, fired first turn ran perfectly.

Picked up some headlights from Highwood whilst I was doing the rounds :)

The original Carello items had a domed glass. My car had flat lenses off a mini.

Not fitted yet mind.....

Mice in the garage is not a good thing as I discovered when I found a hole in the tonneau cover I had stored on a shelf, plus a very cosy looking nest inside..

Three of B&Qs finest traps, plus some chocolate flavoured bait sorted the little b***ers.

Don't put poison down. If they die somewhere inaccessible inside the car they make their presence known pretty pungently some time after they have died:(
