Berlina 2000
Hi All, I havn't seen much Berlina action on this site so thought i'd join in. I've only had mine since last august and havn't seen another roadworthy one since. I went to Spring Alfa day in Aylesbury to find mine was the only one there! Are any fellow Berlina owners on here?

I owned a Berlina 2000, Proteo Red, Reg: PGW160L, from 1974 to 1982, when to my eternal regret and shame I traded it in for a new Guilietta. I have looked for another Berlina but unsuccessfully. Perhaps you could post some photos. The sound of that engine, and those two Webers!

Re: Berlina 2000
Thanks GFK. Its is surprisingly quick and does take a few modern motors by surprise. Mine has dellorto's fitted (they also came with solex and/or webber's) which sound awsome with the air cleaner off!! Check it out in action on you tube ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-lBZ1AZZAOs) its only camera phone footage and my driving style leave's a little to be desired, but you get the general idea . I've added a few pic's to my gallery just to get it going but will get some better pic's as and when I can to add to them.

Re: Berlina 2000
Not sure what JAB is up to these days, I'm sure he still has his Berlina, he bought it in Italy and brought it over. Similar colour to yours I think, left hooker though.
He had a rather public fall out with the AROC forum

Re: Berlina 2000
Hi Green Berlina
I think JaB's car was a 1750, but I'm not sure. Certainly not many about!! I think all too often they got broken up for the mechanicals once the bodywork has had it's day. Shame.

Re: Berlina 2000
Velocemitch, its a shame to hear of JaB's falling out, it would be nice to here off at least one other fellow Berlina owner/driver, early days yet I guess for what seems to be a rarer car than I first thought when buying it.
Ricksalfa's, Your dead right, it is a shame that so many of these cars were broken for parts as they ride and handle surprisingly well. Mine still holds the road well and it stable at motorway speeds on what appear to be the original 34 year old shocks and springs!!
BTW Velocesport in Lincolnshire had a 1750 for sale late last year, it now shows as sold on there website, dunno what happened to it. (anyone??)
I also know of a rough but complete 2000 that may still be for sale, i'd love it to have as second one to do up/modify but don't have anywhere to keep it . Its red with black interior and although would try the patients of a very patient panel-beater it’s not a total basket case!
This car needs to be saved, not broken for its mechanical parts!!!
P.S. I read somewhere that JaB's Berlina had a factory fitted LPG conversion on it. Mmmm now that would keep the fuel bills down.

Re: Berlina 2000
GFK check with the AROC 105 register, have a look on AROC's website and see if there are contact details for Stuart Taylor, he is in charge of the register. To check if it's been registered recently DVLA have a section on their website which allows you to put the registration in, it will give you the details of when it was last registered, providing it was within the last few years.
Can't really help you about JAB though, maybe a PM from this site might get through, he may have changed email addresses though
I remember about 6 Months back a friend of mine was contemplating buying a Red Berlina which had been rally prepared, I suspect the car is still around but he didn't buy it, he bought a Sprint Gt instead. The Berlina looked a bit 'worn' so to speak!
It's not as a rare as a Berlina but this looks quite tidy

Re: Berlina 2000
The tax last expired on 01/03/1986 for PGW160L , but it doesn't mean the car no longer exists. BTW, The guy I bought my Berlina from also had a red LHD which had been used for rallying of some kind. He broke it for spares sometime thru' the summer of last year.

Re: Berlina 2000
VeloceMitch, I Just took a look at the Giulia on ebay from the link, Nice tidy car, "The opening bid is by no means a reflection of the cars value." Wise words from a wise man, i've been in touch with the seller a few times before now, He certainly knows his Alfa's, Does he post on here?

Re: Berlina 2000
Congrats on your lovely Berlina.
Unfortunatly, many Berlina's donated their running gear to Berties and Spides, as for many years there were no market for them. Is was so for the Giulias but they have rissen in value since and so will/or have the remaining Berlinas.
Especially the Berlina 2000s were from the time when Alfa's steel was of a remarketly poor quality, so the crumbled very soon.

Might have been the one, it would have been sometime early summer it had lots of trick bits on it, so would have been worth less than the sum of it's parts
I don't know if the seller of the Guilia is on here, it's possible I suppose.
