Re: Berlina 2000

And another thing..
saw your comment about the MOT ... it was fine when it was MOT'd honest you must have abused it too much for even Berlina...I know I did. I can't think of another car of that vintage and current price bracket that goes so well. As far as the handling is concerned I think its got something with being longer wheelbased and so having greater moments of inertia.

Do you have another Berlina2000 or does your profile thingy need updating?

Hey,
What's new?
What's new?
What's new?
What's new?
Its pay day on monday for me,
How was your holiday?
Dunno about who or whats going, but there seems to be a fair sized crowd meeting at scotch corner to come down from the land of the flat cap together, then meet up in a village called Swinford near Stanford Hall at around 10:30ish.

Crazed Re: Berlina 2000

@ Davey, You've still got the bug for an old 'un then.
I had the privilage of being picked out of loads of Alfas entering Stanford Hall today to be one of the few in the special concourse parking area. We took up the offer and joined the other chosen ones in their Ferrari's , Maserati's , Lamborgini's , Detomaso's , Lancia's , Fiat's and other Alfa's . An enjoyable day out for all until the rain cometh late on in the afternoon as we left. I'll have to start charging a fee for pictures being taken of my car, It might help towards the body restoration that will be needed in the not to distant future .

Re: Berlina 2000

Yes definately still interested in an old'un. The car always generated a lot of interest especially when my wife drove it - I don't think many women are comfortable driving classics.

There are so few about it might be worth a plackard and a collection bucket for donations...seriously though I wouldn't rush to the restoration just keep running it for a couple of years and see what pannels come up. I will give you a chance to save up as well for whatever horrors may lurk beneath.

I showed the U-Tube clip to my wife who says you don't drive it as fast as she use to

*Well, its as much as I can do to get my wife to be passenger in it, let alone drive it
*Having had a good poke around underneath up on a ramp , i'm very aware of what awaits me if and when I start pulling it to bits for a full resto. But we'll cross that bridge when we get there as its a very long term project that will need a lot of time, money and preparation .
*As for the youtube clip , its even faster now that the engine is all tuned up nice and professional like. It stops as well as it goes now that all the brakes work nicely. All of the calipers had at least one of their two pistons stuck or sticking. It really is a much better drive now all the other little gremlins have been sorted. As and when I get chance i'll do another little "blast on film" and post it for your viewing pleasure .

Re: Berlina 2000

If you're in Walsall, have you met the guy with the very nice looking gold Berlina about 5 miles away towards Cannock? He may respond if he is a member, but if not, get back to me and I'll see if I can find him. He's only half a mile from me.

I have met the Gold Berlina 2000a owner albeit briefly @ NAD Weston Park as pictured earlier in this thread. I'm led to believe he has now sold this car through Barons Auctioneers (in London?) and that it sold for around £3000 which seems a low price for the condition and rarity of the car.
Does anyone know why he sold it or where it is now?

I am slowly collecting bits of info in order to try and figure how many of these cars are left on UK roads, I keep meaning to contact the 105 guilia register to see if they can help but just keep forgetting to do it....

Re: Berlina 2000

have you tried the www.berlinaregister.com. I think there are about 10 UK cars registered. I tried to update the register when I owned your vehicle but did not get a response so the register may be out of date.

I have, and your on it as the keeper of the red car you broke for spares!!! You were also on as keeper of KSH but I changed the details over to me when I took on the green machine and have so far discovered 7 others, one of which is now sadly being broken for spares. I say sadly because I went and took a look at it after its engine and gearbox had been removed and found that its a one owner 37 year old car that had fairly solid bodywork. Some of the welding had already been done but then the project got abandoned. Could turn out to be a good source of spares tho'
