Mmm, I see what you mean, it does look a little "lived in" , but then, if it goes well, who cares what it looks like?
Where was/is it?
Is the owner on this Site/forum?
Does anyone know of a set of The aforementioned wheels for sale?

Re: Berlina 2000

It was down South somewhere, Sussex type area I think.

It would look even more lived in if I had bought it !

Re: Berlina 2000

I think it was about the grand mark. It was worth more in bits, it had a load of trick competition parts - would have made a fantastic donor car for a Super or Bertie.

No idea, it was 12 months ago. I'll see if I can still find any contact details.

Well Happy Re: Berlina 2000

Update!!!, Berlina Bullitin
Ran a bit low on fuel over the weekend while havin' a blast around and having read somewhere else about the advantages of running on super unleaded (or its various brand versions) and that it was the closest thing you can get that is readily available to the original 5 star grade that these engines were designed to run on (apparently) I thought I'd give it a try.
Well, I dunno if its just psycological but it does seem to be smoother, quicker and its definatley lost its tendancy to pink occaisionally. The only disadvantage I forsee is that it empties your wallet more quickly at over £1.00 a litre (thats not good in a car that drinks like a fish!!!). Maybe i'll just use it as an occaisional treat.

Re: Berlina 2000

You certainly need to avoid any pinking if you can. If you're not into driving like a loony you could always get the ignition retarded a bit for 95 octane...

Thats what we all seem to be destined to do.... In South AFrica we can only get 93 LRP (lead replacement).... or 93/95 unleaded.

Fortunately we have Alu motors in our cars, we can run unleaded !!!.

I treat my cars to some octane booster every now and again..... and a little bottle of Redex once in a while (dunno if this makes any difference)

Re: Berlina 2000

Mine drinks 97 RON super unleaded (Usually Esso), or 99(?) RON Shell V power when I can get it. I also add half a bottle of Millers VSP not as a Lead Substitute but as an Octane booster, that should bring the normal mixture up to what was the old 5 star. It generally runs pretty well and frequantly gets hammered, but it's also quite capable of trickling along slowly when it has too.

The only time I have had problems is once when I used the BP premium stuff, it just didn't like it for some reason and once when I filled up at some place out in the sticks and I think it had been in the tanks so long it had lost it's Octane. We were on an event hammering about at 6K revs at the time and I think it ran too lean and burnt the plugs.

Well Happy Re: Berlina 2000

Hi guys, Berlina bullitin,
All is quiet in the engine compartment at the mo', Rear wheel bearing renewal in progress, which lead to finding sticky brake calipers, weepy shockers and one of the spring retainers on the trailing arms doesn't look too good either (I think it was last MOT'd by a man with a white stick or very dark sunglasses ). It's a work in progress thing that will no doubt take many hours of precious little spare time, but trying to do it on a budget makes it even more of a challenge . TTFN, GB.

Update:- Back on the road!!!!! Went out for a good blast last night after many hours of tinkering. Much better for the rear brakes being re-built and quieter for a new rear wheel bearing. Jobs a good 'un for now. May leave investigating the creak from the front suspension 'till after NAD (ignorance is bliss n all that) 'cos if i start on sorting that it'll be off the road again....

Wave Re: Berlina 2000

I always fancied a blue one like the one featured in the sales brochure, but have never seen one for sale since I started looking for one a few years back. It would be a shame to do a colour change on mine as its still mostly in original shape with execption of the external paintwork. Thanks for the complement on mine . Are you in the UK? and if so are you going to National Alfa Day on 24/06/2007 @ Weston Park??
