Re: s4 wind deflector (how to fit)

Is it specifically for an S4. I can find no reference to a wind deflector that "bolts on"

There are lots of deflectors that are home made - like mine - that are held onto the headrest pillars using bungees or velcro.

Can you post a pic of what you've got ?

I have a commercial one that bolts to the covertible top frame attachement. Yours should have come with instructions. Can you post a picture of the unit so we can see what it looks like?

GJ, I love your avatar. Did you make it?

Re: s4 wind deflector (how to fit)

hi alfaGJ

hope u get this ok. really impressed with your homemade windeflector-blue peter would be jealous! i am looking for something similar for my S4. just to recap, did you cut some perspex and attach it with velcro? it looks very professional. i have seen some specialists offering aftermarket ones for about £150 which attach down at the hinges for the soft top-any views appreciated.

thanks

Have a look here (you need to register to see the pics)

http://www.alfabb.com/bb/forums/show...wind+deflector

It'll give you the dimensions

You'll need a good jigsaw to cut the Acrylic

The velcro came from B&Q

And yes...... it is just held in place by the velcro..... wind pressure holds it against the seats

Re: s4 wind deflector (how to fit)

hi

well, where do you start. all lower wing sections, sills (internal), holes in boot floor x 4 (large), hole in passenger footwell caused by driving over something at some point, couple of parking dinks in rear wing at crease, whole panel under rear bumper badly corroded and front support struts behind wings needed manufactured. In fact a lot of the pieces have had to be made from scratch as not available or too hard to source. The guy working on it looks close to tears! The garage have been great but the original estimate of about £2500 didn't include the additional work behind bumper and on the floor which they only discovered when they got it stripped down.

i am also getting a used windscreen and new mats from Richard Norris who has a nice white s4 for breaking (some ****** rear ended it). Up until now i have use the car on a daily basis but after i get all the work done i think i will be keeping it for nice days and looking after it a bit more. keep trying to justify spending so much money-especially as i meant to be saving for my wedding in December!

pics to follow... i promise

Aw gee, I've made it across the pond! It looked so nice brand new, I've since snapped off the wings with an over enthusiastic flinging open of the top!

Oh dear

I've caught mine on the hood (once) but I got away with it...

I'll invent something to position it centrally so it stays where it should be
