Bertie exterior door handles/locks

Does anyone have a photo or legible diagram of how it should look INSIDE the door skin?

Mine were literally hanging out the door so I thought I'd take them out for a clean and put the new backing plates/seals on last night. A "simple", "quick" little job as a reward for getting her started the other night! As usual, they never are!

The backing plates and rubber seal had rotted completely but came off OK.

However, this is what I'm not sure about for reassembly and I may as well ask in case I can save time when I next go out.

There is a short bar-not the long one from the interior handle to the mechanism -that should connect somewhere hanging loose (both doors!) as if it has been pried off. I see a very small nut on a spur at one end of the door handle assembly which would be inside the door out of sight. What should connect to that?

Nostalgia isn't what it used to be.

Re: Bertie exterior door handles/locks

I worked out that the short cranked arm is a push-fit onto the back of the lock. It's obvious once I took the time to look. Sorry to have wasted people's time with this question.
