Bertone seat covers

Anyone tried fitting the replacement covers (available from all good classic Alfa dealers ) to the 105 coupe seats? Is it an easy DIY task or best left to pros?

The seam along the base of the driver's seat has pulled apart. Does vinyl re-stitch if you can find an industrial sewing machine?

I searched forums and see a few full leather makeovers for moderns which look tasty but a bit expensive - I'd have to have all the door cards and parcel shelf done as well, of course!

-Just thinking about how it'd look I can feel the argument coming on "How much are yoou spending on it??????" from Shh-you-can-guess-who!

Re: Bertone seat covers

Never tried fitting seat covers, mine are in suprisingly good nick. I do lust after a pair of these though

They would be easier to sell to 'her in doors' as they are so much more comfortable

Re: Bertone seat covers

You're right, it would be cheaper. The buckets not selling my wife, I mean

The problem going that route (for me) is it would be so easy to be drawn to the dark side again. Seeing it all stripped out - as it currently is - I floated the idea of a nice pair of modern buckets...maybe a cage, some harnesses,...ooh and a sumpguard, a HB handling kit...a free-flowing manifold and system, alloys....

I have to get it usable first and foremost - if only to prove my quietly doubting wife I can do it!

Fair point, it needs to be moving before she realises the seats aren't as comfy as she might like!.

Re: Bertone seat covers

I don't know about GTVs, but the vinyl seats on my spider restiched just fine. It was one of the very few jobs that was farmed out. The guy wouldn't guarantee the work, but he said he'd have a go at it. It worked out just fine and I was able to salvage my seats.

Re: Bertone seat covers

Cheers, Toronto. It's got to be worth trying to save them first. God knows, there are enough other bits urgently needing cash applications!
