2000 GTV Instruction Book

Hi guys,

I've posted here a couple of times earlier regarding some
1300's...BUT now I've paid advance payment on a 2000 GTV (I know, most prefer 1750's) but I just couldn't resist it this time...I've already missed out on several Berties because I've been abroad, a friend went to inspect the car and the seller seems to be ok. The downside is that paperwork including instruction book have been lost during the years.

Do you guys know where to get an original, I have tried ebay and the likes...actually also lost an auction on ebay the other day......or perhaps there is someone who has a scanned copy to share??? I would be really happy since I will not be able to even see the car for almost three months...Swedish or English would do.

Thanks in advance
Best Regards
Pierre

Re: 2000 GTV Instruction Book

Sorry, can't help. I have a 1750 one, but not a 2000. Just need to keep your eyes peeled I suppose.
Congrats on the Car though,
The 2000 does have some advantages, more grunt and an LSD, it's still a highly desirable car

Re: 2000 GTV Instruction Book

Hi again,

thanks fo the reply, I know I should post some pictures here... I will do that but not until the car is in my hands and totally paid for and transfer of the ownership have been made...sorry guys, but just in case.

Another teaser for you though... a 1750 owner in Sweden has this very nice homepage of what he has been up to with his car so far and some nice information...let's see if I get this right

Take care and have fun your cars

Re: 2000 GTV Instruction Book

Congrats on your new ride, Pierre!
Can't help with an original manual, or one in English or Swedish for that matter, but if all else fails, I could scan the Italian version I have and email it to you.

Thumbs Up Re: 2000 GTV Instruction Book

Hi,

I'm still searching, even though I'm not that very good in italian I think that most of the text would be possible to understand or easy to translate...thanks for the offer papajam, that would be great! I'm counting the days until I can actually see "my" car and I have only a few pictures of it, so reading the instruction book would be great.

So nice with a friendly community

Best Regards
Pierre

Re: 2000 GTV Instruction Book

Hi Pierre, I bought a white 2000GTV 3 weeks ago needing some work. Actually it's very solid but in lots of bits and I can't get it to start - but that's another story. In answer to your post- I found a complete reprint of the original Alfa composite workshop manual from Mercian Manuals of Coventry. It wasn't very expensive. www.mercianmanuals.co.uk I hope this helps. Regards, Jim

Re: 2000 GTV Instruction Book

Hi again,

Papajam -Super!
73GTVJim -was the reprint from mercianmanuals complete with the Wiring Diagrams?
SpiderS4 -It seems that they can deliver a new manual from Alfa, I haven't been given the price yet so I can not tell you folks that at the moment. I will post the quote when I get it, that could be interesting for others I guess.

Thanks a lot for the advices

I took a look at the pics of 73GTVJim's car...nice to see another 2000GTV, hope to see more of it when it starts to come together. My "incoming" car also has a few things that needs attention,
1. Front seats needs new covers (interesting to read the thread on the subject!)
2. Battery has been moved to the boot(leave it or don't leave it, that is the question )
3. Dash has a small crack,
4. Parcel shelf is sad looking and someone has put a couple of speekers through it.
5. Headliner needs replacement, somthing sharp have at some point been "pushed" through it, not too big though.
6. Desperate need of a new Boot carpet set.

Apart from those things it needs a good polish and probably a new paintjob to get it perfect... I will leave the paintjob to the future, just like the headliner that will have to wait until the paintjob.

Mechanically it is ok, it has been owned and taken care of by a mechanic. Before delivery the car will be put through the Bi-annual test by the authorities... I think that's what you guys call the MOT.

The avatar is of my incoming toy.

Regards
Pierre

Re: 2000 GTV Instruction Book

OK, good to know about that reproduction, EB spares has one with the diagrams but more expensive of course.

I just saw that the link to Fredrik's homepage already had been put in another thread here in the forum... a long time ago, sorry for repeating stuff...

I've seen comments about veloce, don't know if you are referring to www.veloce.se
http://www.veloce.se/

It starts off in Swedish but just follow the links on the left that are in English and you are set. It's claimed to be a very popular spider site at least in Europe.

These two links have very similar layout, looks to be "related".

http://www.highwoodalfa.com

I haven't seen any comments about these pages in any thread. Have anyone of you ordered from Highwood before?
They are located at 27A Wellfield, Bishopston Swansea SA3 3EP, (+44) 1792-234314, fax (+44) 1792-234514, mobile (+44) 7831-160480,
And no, I have in no way any connection to them apart from that I made an inquiry about parts.

Anyway, take care and enjoy your cars.

BR
Pierre

Wave Re: 2000 GTV Instruction Book

Hi Pierre - I have ordered from Highwood Alfa several times, they are always helpfull and efficient. You will probably be able to get most of the stuff you need from them incl. touch up paint .
I've just ordered some filters for my 1750 Spider thru Del Piero, Germany, who seems to have more compeditive prices .

Re: 2000 GTV Instruction Book

Hi Erik,

sorry for late reply.

Thanks for the reply on Highwood and the tip about Del Piero....excellent.

I have a digram already, thanks again!

To all of you that have followed this thread I can tell you that I contacted Alfa agent in Sweden who were fast in their reply and after having contacted Alfa Italy, I was asked about the VIN. As a reply I was told that the instruction book is coming in the mail......free of charge!

Without having driven the Alfa yet...I love them

Re: 2000 GTV Instruction Book

Well, A report on the book.

It arrived in the mail, but it was a copied version of the original put together with this plastic "back"... isn't always as good as it sounds. Is it ever?

Anyway, It's much better than nothing and they sent it with no charge.

Just wanted to let you guys know.
