1982 GTV6 Chaparral

The GTV6 Chaparral was a modified version of the GTV6. I found the following description on the net......

These GTV6 cars were essentially remanufactured by Chaparral Motorsports of Westbury, Wiltshire in England in the late 80's and early 90's.
British Compomotive alloys & an extensive body kit make the car look quite different. There is also slightly different treatment of the bonnet line.

Complete engine rebuild, porting & polishing of the head was said to be good for 210 Hp. The car was also completely stripped down to bare metal to identify any rusty bits - which were replaced as needed.

The interior is also quite beautiful, being completely re-done in British Connolly hide with Wilton carpets.

In 1990, the rebuild cost 14,750 British pounds.

One of these cars went for auction last Monday

It looks in mint condition.

It was sold for £1850

Think we lost a bit of this thread.

The same car is up for auction on E-bay (with thanks to DAZ75 on the AROC forum):

Re: 1982 GTV6 Chaparral

I used to own that very car. YDD 223. It was nice enough when it ran but was the most unreliable piece of poo i have ever been near. The reality is that the whole chaparra; thing was a fraud. I spoke to the people who built the engines. There wasnt much done to them actually. They had some nicer cams in but that was about it.

On the upside the car sounded very nice and the interior felt nice enough but generally the chaparral was a bit of a sham.

So go drool over something else worth drooling over. Dont go near a chaparral.

Have to disagree, I've picked up a Chaparral a while ago and its excellent. Looks great, sounds great, no reliability issues. Ok, when 'new' they probably were poor value for money but pick one up cheap now and you're laughing - if you can find one this is.
