Well it seems that the car in question is sold.
Whether a 1300, 1600, 1750 or 2000 engine is fitted, it’s still the same lovely car if every thing else is as it should be. The smaller engines are more willing and happy to rev and lots find them more entertaining.
The 2 others have more bottom end punch, longer gearing and are better suited and relaxed for long drives on highways and motorways, but still great fun on twisted roads. A 2000 will, in my opinion, require a LSD rear axel, my 1750 Spider is already very tail happy. Some say that the 2000 is more fragile that the others, though I’ve never had any probs with my two 2000 transaxles.
I’ll say, hunt the best overall one you can afford, and don’t mix it up, keep it original and well serviced – then you’ll not have much trouble and you’ll get a good price if you ever want to sell.
