Alfetta 1800 GT:
Engine quality and parts not a problem. Same engine (more or less) from the Spider through to the early 75. Bulletproof, easy to maintain and get parts for and generally great fun.
Similarly, gearbox/transaxle are shared with the 116 series Giulietta and 75 so again not a problem (yet).
Back brakes can sieze quite easily and also carry the handbrake so make sure these are working.
Bodywork is the bugbear. Ignoring the rust reputation, the car is going to be at least 20 years old. Hatch, doors and windscreen scuttle are the parts I remember as being real problems.
Twin carbs are fairly easy to tune and maintain, even by ear, if you are at least moderately mechanically minded.
With the transaxle, a very well balanced car, 49/51 weight distribution as I remember and a pleasure to drive.
Of course, all the common sense and advice in the world goes south once you get in and drive one of the things!
