Converting to fuel injection

Hi
I'm considering converting my 74 jt junior to modern fuel injection, my thoughts are to use emerald 3D for ignition and fuel control, I have the manifold and ITB'S from a Spica injection and would like to keep as much of the parts Alfa as possible. I have searched on the forumn and can find reference to mega squirt conversions but not much detail
How have people fitted the injectors? The old mechanical ones are much narrower and longer, is it simply to bore out the existing holes or more complicated?
How have people fitted a crank sensor trigger?
Any pointers to threads on this subject much apreciated

Sorry, I can't help with specific advice. Its an unusual conversion to do that way round, many US imports convert their injection back to carbs mainly because they sound nicer, can give more power and there's not much expertise in the UK on how to set up Spica. There will be specialists out there who could help you but they'll cost money.

The other thing to consider would be fitting an injected twinspark engine from a 75 complete. That'll get you properly sorted fuel injection and an easy 150hp. It is a common modification.

No you misunderstand me
i want to use the intake and throttle bodies from the Spica set up so it looks origional but use modern engine management, it will be much better than Carbs as i can fully map the ignition and fuel
when finnished i will have individual throttle bodies at 38mm dia thats a big increase on 40 dcoe carbs so coupled with the big lift cams and ported head (allready fitted) should see more top end but more importantly a better mid range. Its a bit of a long term project so no hurry

this is a thread on converting a Bertone gtv to EFI from a few years back on the alfBB ............there might just be some ideas for you in there! (it sure don't look like something you can do on a saturday afternoon, it sounds like major cost and work!)

thats the kind of thing but they are using new ITB's with the injector pocket cast in, they refer to using the modified Spica but frustratingly dont show one done, still i now have a solution for the crank angle sensor just injectors and throttle pot to solve, i have a solution but would hate to spend days making custom injector blocks to find a simple tried and tested method works

another link discussing megasquirt conversion - might be some photos of use in there (and you could ask one of those guys on the BB, they are constantly doing such things)

You can't use the Spica injectors in connection with modern electronic controlled injection systems.
The Spica system is a mechanical pump that opens and closes for pressurized fuel, whereas with electronic injection the injectors have electronic valves.

I know I can't use the mechanical injectors all I want to use is the manifold and ITB'S my problem is how to fit the much bigger electronic injectors where the slim mechanical ones used to fit
