Spider listing to the right ?

Just getting the last of the jobs done to get the spider back on the road after winter, was stood back admiring the rear view when I noticed it's leaning over to the right. I thought this would be the shocks but it has yellow koni's ( although not fitted by me so don't know how old) and when i do the bounce test each side levels quickly.

What do you think?

There is a long and informative thread on this very subject on the Alfa BB. It ended with the problem resolved so is worth reading.

rear suspension rebuild - stressed out, ready to rip out hair - Alfa Romeo Bulletin Board & Forums

In a nutshell, the owner assumed it was due to rear spring height, spent a lot of time trying to adjust with shims and things but with no effect. He then took the advice of others and tackled it at the front, where the springs are much stiffer and have much more impact on the cars stance - e.g. raise the front passenger side and the driver side rear drops, etc. Sorted!

Yes, I had a similar thing. The correct set up has some shims on one side, I guess to adjust for the weight of the driver, perhaps Alfa thought that owning a Spider is a lonely occupation. You could always set up the car for a neutral stance for whatever your most common driver/passenger combo is.

After fitting a fully uprated suspension kit (with correct shims) and removing the rear anti-roll bar, the problem went away.

thanks, it makes sense to adjust the drivers weight but wouldnt that mean it listed to the left and then levelled when the driver got in? mine is already over to the right so me getting in makes it worse. it is an original rhd car.

it will be back on the road next month so i'll run it for a bit and see how it goes and possibly have a fettle. My next winter job is the fast road handling kit so as youve said that should sort it out.

Remember all cars are adjusted for either RHD or LHD, as almost all roads lean to the roadside.
This is very obvious when say a RHD car drive on ar RHD road. So check how the car leans standing on a normal road.
(Remember my brother's RHD Mini looked totally odd driving to the right here in DK)

Interesting Erik, i hadnt thought of that.

The chap in the linked thread spent hours getting the car level on a level surface, maybe it was ok to start with?
