Re: I spy with my little eye, something beginning with G...

So, the plan is:
Rick drives across here, then gets in the passenger seat with a camera, then I drive us down to Portugal for Sergio (Rick pays tolls, petrol, ferries and fines)
We pick Sergio up, I drive around a bit more, then we find some of these football supporting girls Hugo keeps taking photos of, chuck Sergio and Rick out to make space for them and Bazza lives happily ever after?

Sweet

Very very very very gorgeous. I missed this thread completely until now and I am very happy for you. The unique colour suits the GTV very well and you must feel so good you found the GTV with the nicest grill (both your and my opinion) and with one of the nicest interiors (I like the original Giulia Sprint interior very much as well)

Wave Re: I spy with my little eye, something beginning with G...

Thanks Hans!

As you know, I did really want a 1750. I was a bit unsure about the colour until I saw it in the flesh, and then I fell in love. I also said "groovy" a lot!

I like the original dash and stepfront too, but so many of the early cars are getting snapped up for racing in pre-1966 events, or getting turned into GTA replicas. Both of which makes them very expensive! They also have some components on them which are not quite as strong as the later ones - especially the brakes and the front suspension mounting points.

@ Bazza - don't hold your breath.

Thanks Rick, I'll give it a go, but I'm not sure it will work - I would have to chuck her Micra out of the garage!!!!

Four?

It's like having a Mini again!

I think I have an early heater with just one (full) speed.
Nope suprisingly my distinctly dodgy investment has 10 Fuses and blows Air at my feet at two rates, both of which don't do much.

The Wipers do a very cleverly choreographed dance at two different speeds as well. I am sure they will tie themselves in knots soon..

Wonder which is the most sound investment, a Guilia or a new 156???....or perhaps a Pension

(Small print and soothing girlie voice) Remember that the value of your investment can go down as well as down, but you'll hve much more fun from your Bertie than from a pension.

Re: I spy with my little eye, something beginning with G...

Maybe I'm an odd ball (well I already know I am ) but I buy a car expecting it to be an investment, as well as a means of transportation, and (if I'm lucky) something to enjoy.

I've never lost money on a car I've owned, and I don't expect to lose money on the spider. Actually I'm really, really sure I won't. If I thought there was a chance I would lose money, I wouldn't have bought it. Pure and simple. Even if the market takes a steep nose-dive, I'm not going to lose money on the Alfa. I may not gain as much, or worst-case scenario, I will break-even, but that's it.

Yes, my figures take into account the costs of repairs and most of the running costs -- I don't factor in insurance and gasoline, because I figure I'd be paying out that much for bus/taxi transporation if I didn't own a car, so I eat those costs.

Now I expect all this to change if I ever decide to buy a new car, but I know that's not likely to happen in the forseeable future.

It also means that I don't buy cars on a whim, and I won't buy a car I know will cost me more money than what it is worth, or will have zero resale value. There are enough cars in this world that I don't need to waste my time, efforts, and resources on those.
