Number Plates

I need to try and get a small front number plate made up for me toy.

Size at the moment is 275x70, lettering 45mm high and 20mm wide.

Does anyone know where I can get one made up for the front? It's currently on Italian plates so the width of the whole plate will shrink but I'd like to keep the height the same (or near!) if possible....seen a 1600 GTV today at ERAD so it can be done....preferably in Aluminium but perspex will do if it has to be.

Re: Number Plates

No worries. Sometimes it's more about what's NOT said than what is said.

Hi...I have only recently joined this crackin' forum and as such wanted to ask a question.
I am about to take delivery of a gorgeous S2 LHD Alfa 2000 Spider...(Yay!)...and also wanted to mount a small front number plate beneath the bumper.
I haven't seen the car up close yet but my question is just how do you mount the front plate...? Is there a mounting kit...? Or do you chaps cobble a self-engineered version together using whatever you can find...?

(FYI - the plate already attached to the car is a self-adhesive type stuck to the bonnet).

Any info on how this is done would be great...

Re: Number Plates

MOT law's regarding No Plates have changed recently and the plate's have to be the correct size, font, spacing etc, they also have to have the popstcode and name of the plate/dealer supplying the plates and the BSI kite mark on them.
If any of the above or missing it's an MOT fail or a fine from the traffic Gestapo.

Re: Number Plates

Hi...Yeah, thanks for the heads-up 'quadrafigolio'.

Okay assuming I am going to fit a legal sized front number plate <ahem> how the heck do you mount it to a S2 spider...?

Re: Number Plates

Mounting the number plate to the left hand side bumper just requires a couple of 'L' shaped brackets. Either contact the usual suppliers or Alan Bennett at Benalfa to see if they have any secondhand (I doubt if you will get new) brackets in stock. Otherwise make your own, one part of the 'L' can be screwed or bolted to the narrow lip at the bottom of the bumper and obviously the other part bolts to the number plate.

Does this include older cars with older number plates that never had any postcode of supplier or BS markings on them?

Re: Number Plates

Your exempt if the car was registered before 1-1-1973, you can also have white/silver letters on black, but they still have to be the standard sized letters and numbers.(http://www.dvla.gov.uk/media/pdf/lea...mberplates.pdf ) and plate size.

The rally car has an Italian sized front plate and technically it is illegal and has been pointed out by a number of scrutineers. It always has a full sized plate tie-wrapped on at the start.
